"Time is of the essence. We see an unprecedented rise of new jobs in the energy sector because of the global climate agenda. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make more women an integral part of the new energy system. This window of opportunity is at its peak now and that requires action today rather than tomorrow."

"Empowering women is a major cross-cutting endeavour, it cannot be achieved by the energy sector alone or by a single ministry or by even a country. Governments, development partners, civil society, as well as private companies and educational companies need to deliver results. Result that women will actually feel such as with high-quality jobs and with equal or better pay."

- Lyaziza Sabyrova, Director Regional Cooperation, CWRD, Asian Development Bank

"We are seeing a significant enhancement of women’s role in numerous sectors, even if it is slow, the progress is there. Share of women in government entities has grown which has a positive impact on external and internal relations."

"We shall boost this progress if we want to live in a better world where everyone has equal opportunities to be successful."

- Nino Enukidze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia

"We need to ask ourselves, why we think we are okay with this (bias towards women in energy), why we have normalized this. That really gets us passionate at Women in Energy Pakistan, about changing this mindset, making it not okay to be okay with this."
- Nameerah Hameed, Founder, Women in Energy Pakistan Network

"We have an opportunity now to include everyone in the emerging energy economy."
- Zonibel Woods, Senior Social Developnment Specialist, Asian Development Bank

"CAREC has a good education system, there are proportionally many more women being educated in STEM subjects than in other parts of the world. This is an opportunity for the energy sector."
- Michaela Bergman, Principal Social Specialist, Department of Strategy, Policy and Budget, AIIB

"At this stage, there’s a great opportunity for women because many researchers are women, who do great research, but when it comes to business models, this is where the major barriers are, if there could be more programs providing mentorship, that could be great for the region."
- Saida Yusupova, Founder Green Business Innovation, Uzbekistan

"The prevailing hiring practices have a major role in women participating in the energy sector. In a few days we have the International Women’s Day and the topic of this year is the “Bias of Women” and again, this bias of prevailing hiring practices is not helping women to access the workforce."
- Celia García-Baños, Programme Officer, Policy, Gender and Socioeconomics, IRENA

"It’s important to increase awareness and attract young ladies to participate in clean energy and general energy sector. It’s also relatable to other sectors too."
- Aliya Kydrybekova, Founder Waternovation, Kazakhstan

- Kelly Hewitt, Principal Energy Specialist, Development Bank

"It is crucial that governments, companies and communities recognize the economical, environmental and social benefits that gender equality brings and try to remove the gradual removal of socio-cultural barriers that hinder female participation in the energy sector."
- Maia Melikidze, Commissioner, Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission

"The first system that has to be changed is huge shift in the mentality and it should be done by the complex measures by the government program which are there, but the huge media campaign and educating boys and girls on equality."
- Tatyana Bystrushkina, Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce, Uzbekistan

"The strongest part of the female (participation) to seeing the energy sector strategy differently from planning, innovation side is missing totally right now. We have been facing this stagnation for more than 20 years with no development in the sector."
- Malika Saidkhodjaeva, Founder, www.energy.uz, Uzbekistan

"Women’s participation can increase the project policy effectiveness and efficiency of energy sector interventions on the achievement of SDG 7, which the world is aspiring towards. The bottomline is (women participation) is a smart thing to do and it’s not just a good thing to do."
