The Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program supports high-priority projects in six countries that share the Mekong River -- Cambodia, the People's Republic of China (specifically Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Lao People's Democratic Republic , Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam. The Mekong Institute curated an interactive poster gallery at the GMS Business Forum held in November 2025, inviting the private sector to "Invest in the GMS." The gallery showcased the GMS Regional Investment Framework (RIF) 2026–2028 and its pipeline of 88 regional development projects worth $18.8 billion. "Invest in the GMS" also helped inform the forum’s breakout sessions, which aimed to refine future investment opportunities. Check out the posters:

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Innovation Week is off to a strong start with the GMS Innovation and Digitalization Workshop, running from 27–29 October 2025.

Over three days, participants from across the region are going to exchange knowledge, share regional best practices, examine policies and technologies, and co-develop sectoral roadmaps in agriculture, tourism, and trade and investment.

The sessions aim to identify quick wins, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate digital transformation across the GMS.

The first Green Revolution from the 1950s to the 1970s averted mass famine and demonstrated that human capital and agricultural R&D are as necessary as physical inputs in driving growth and security.
