Duterte, Robredo two of “100 most powerful” in PH

Esquire Philippines has picked two vice presidents as two of its ‘100 Most Powerful People in the Philippines’: current VP and Education Secretary Sara Duterte and her predecessor, former VP Leni Robredo.

In its “100” list published on its website on September 24, 2022, Esquire described the ‘agila of the south’ as a political heavyweight who “has forged her own path” catapulting herself from being the “youngest and first female mayor” of Davao City to holding the second highest post of the land via landslide victory in the May 2022 elections.

Next on the list of “powerful” government officials is Robredo who, despite losing in the presidential polls, “still gets massive support from the people,” said Esquire.

It added, the Angat Buhay chairperson and the spark behind the ‘Pink Revolution’ continues to remain “relevant” to this very day and has received various recognitions from prestigious groups and universities including the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership.

Both are seen to clash for the presidency in 2028, an all-female battle highly awaited by their legions of supporters.
