Kung 10k pesos lang ang ipon mo para sa retirement, hindi ito sapat—lalo kung wala ka pang ibang pinagkakakitaan o assets. Para magbigay ng perspective:

Kung titigil ka sa trabaho at 10k lang ang hawak mo, mauubos ito agad sa ilang linggo o kahit ilang araw, depende sa gastusin mo.

Ang mga karaniwang retirees sa Pilipinas ay kailangan ng 5k–20k pesos kada buwan para sa basic needs (pagkain, kuryente, gamot, etc.).

Ibig sabihin, sa isang taon pa lang, 60k–240k pesos na agad ang kailangang ihanda.

Pero huwag mawalan ng pag-asa. May magagawa ka pa para makahabol kahit paunti-unti. Pwedeng:

1. Maghanap ng sideline na kahit maliit, tuloy-tuloy ang kita.

2. Magtabi ng bahagi ng kita kada buwan.

3. Mag-invest sa mga low-risk instruments gaya ng Pag-IBIG MP2, SSS Flexi-Fund, o digital banks na may mataas na interest at kumuha ng Life Insurance para sa agarang financial assistance pag kinakailangan.

4. Gamitin ang skills mo para makapagsimula ng maliit na negosyo.
