BRIEF HISTORY:
Just like other barangays of Paracelis, Mt. Prov., Butigue is blessed with untapped vast tract of land. Though blessed it is economically behind, as of early 1990’s there were no legitimate source of capital. Cash were limited to government and few private employees and usurious businessmen. umption of which often time insufficient for descent living especially when emergency and higher education. Members of the newly organized mission of the Episcopal Church –ST. WILLIAM’S Episcopal church mission is not spared to the difficult economic situation. This manifest when members of the church due to dire need beg to borrow the church alms. This prompted the three women of the church to start self-help program. With such experiences, sometime in October of 1995, three mothers from Saint William’s Episcopal Church Women namely: NORMA PILUDEN, LYDIA POKLING, ROSALIND SIBLAG decided to start a church based self-help program which they called “ SAINT WILLIAM’S UB-UBBO”. Initially the group came up with six hundred pesos (Php600.00) as capital. The fund shall be used specifically for emergency use (i.e. for accidents-health, and tuition fees-for education) only. After more than eighteen months of operation the “Ub-ubbo” grew in membership and capital. Originally membership only come from the Anglican Church but in the light of Christian virtue on blessing, non-members can be accepted as long as he/she is recommended by a member of Saint William’s Church . Thus, by May 14,1997 the “Ub-ubbo”was registered duly as church based cooperative under the Cooperative Development Authority by fifteen co-operators and 30 members with a paid up capital of thirty-eight thousand pesos(Php38,000) and subscribed authorized capital of one hundred fifty-two thousand pesos (Php152,000). With God’s grace, from three (3) devoted church women it grew into more than a thousand members. Simply from emergency loan service the cooperative grew into multi-million organization with different services:
