(DISCLAIMER: Long post ahead, but very relevant)
Cervical Cancer can happen to any woman, but could be prevented by having an HPV vaccine!!! (All women must have this).
This is one of the 3 important lessons we learned in the past 10 days.
My sister, Joanna was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer, Stage 2B last March 18. That shocked her and our family. And on that day, our battle with Cancer began. It is a battle that not only my sister will fight, but our entire family and everyone who loves and cares about us and especially my sister.
The second important lesson we learned is that Cancer should be treated as soon as possible. You must never waste time in dealing with this battle.
After having a 2nd and 3rd opinion from the best doctors and hospitals (both here in the Philippines and abroad), we finally decided to go through treatment with Parkway Cancer Center in Singapore. We are set to fly on April 3 and we’re optimistic that from there on, she will get better. We believe that God is leading us to victory in this battle. From the start, we have felt His presence and guidance.
The third and most important lesson we have learned is this — BE INSURED!!
Always remember that when you’re dealing with Cancer, you will have a very expensive treatment. Although, we also believe and have high respect in natural healing methods, our family have decided to go through the medical way. We opted for this because we have AXA Global Health Access insurance that will cover all my sister’s medical expenses up to 100 Million Pesos, to any hospital and doctor anywhere in the world. This has been the greatest blessing for my sister and our family. She only got her AXA GHA last March 2021, after our mom died, and for my sister’s age, her annual premium was not that expensive. Actually, the money we used to get health insurance for my sister and the rest of my family that year came from the death claim we received from our mom’s AXA Life insurance. Kaya sobrang laki ng pasasalamat at tiwala namin sa AXA. It helped us during my mom’s ordeal back then, provided for us after she died, and now continues to protect and provide for our entire family’s health care needs.
Our triumphant battle with Cancer and my sister’s journey to complete healing is going to be something we will all be expecting. We believe that there is a greater reason and purpose why we have to go through this. God is leading our path, and we know that He will never leave and abandon us. His provisions are more than sufficient, and how I wish that many people would consider getting themselves insured, most especially with AXA, because we are living proof of its amazing insurance plans and wonderful customer service. We are truly proud to be AXA!
(Special thanks to Ms. Jem Sanico, one of the GHA clients of AXA, for inspiring and motivating my sister, Joanna.)
