MPRBI conducts fire and earthquake drill
May 23, 2023 - Mallig Plains Rural Bank (Isabela), Inc. Main Office, located at National Highway, Centro 2, Mallig, Isabela, prioritized the safety of its employees by conducting a comprehensive fire and earthquake drill on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
The drill, meticulously organized by the Human Resource Department, led by Wella L. Mendoza, and the Security Officer, headed by Andy R. Salazar, received full support from the bank's esteemed President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Praxedes A. Ignacio. Collaborating with key stakeholders such as the Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, and Philippine National Police of the Municipality of Mallig, the bank ensured a holistic and effective preparedness exercise.
The primary aim of the drill was to empower employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond adeptly to disasters, particularly earthquakes and fires. By familiarizing the workforce with safety measures to be implemented during and after such incidents, the bank sought to eliminate fire risks entirely and create a safer workplace environment.
The expertise of SINSP Alberto G. Bueno, along with representatives from the BFP Mallig, F03 Winston I. Caddawan and SFO1 Salvador B. Bangibang, proved invaluable during the drill. They shared valuable insights on the proper utilization of emergency equipment, emphasizing the significance of receiving appropriate training. Employees, displaying immense courage, eagerly volunteered to practice using fire extinguishers under the guidance of the experienced firefighters. The firefighters imparted the correct techniques for extinguishing fires, equipping the employees with vital life-saving skills.
The event also featured a comprehensive earthquake drill, orchestrated by the Mallig Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council in collaboration with representatives from the Philippine National Police - Mallig Police Station. Employees actively participated in the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" drill, a proven method for minimizing injury during seismic activity. The drill also provided a demonstration of the different phases of an earthquake, namely ALARM, RESPONSE, EVACUATION, ASSEMBLY, AND EVALUATION, creating a well-rounded learning experience.
The Fire and Earthquake Drills orientation served as an educational and interactive platform, ensuring that employees gained the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. The event proved to be highly successful, equipping all participants with additional insights and enhancing their emergency preparedness.
This drill not only refreshed employees' readiness but also elevated their awareness of disaster response, fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes safety and preparedness.
