The SEConomics June 2026 Issue features key developments in the global equities and fixed income markets, the continued easing of Philippine headline inflation, and the country's sustained growth in external trade in goods.

Global equities and fixed income markets posted mixed performance in June. In the local bourse, the PSEi rebounded by 4.65% to 6,037.17 as of end-June 2026, while total market capitalization increased by 0.81% month-on-month (m-o-m) to PHP19.44 trillion, supported by improving crude oil supply conditions.

On the macroeconomic front, headline inflation eased to 6.4% in June 2026, down from 6.8% in May, driven by slower m-o-m increases in food prices and transportation costs. Year-to-date average inflation stood at 4.8%, remaining within the Development Budget Coordination Committee's (DBCC) revised 2026 target range of 6.0%–7.0%. Meanwhile, the country's cumulative external trade in goods expanded by 14.0% year-on-year (y-o-y), reaching USD100.98 billion from January to May 2026, up from USD88.57 billion in the same period of 2025. Imports accounted for 62.5% of total trade, while exports comprised the remaining 37.5%.
