Our kasambahay for more than 5 yrs. handed me this 2,000 pesos as she bid goodbye to return to Manila para mamasukan bilang family helper.
She: Janelle, lagi kong nakikita yong mga post mo about sa insurance.
I was surprised with what she said cause to give you a background she was only able to finish until grade 1 and can barely read and write.
Me: Sige po Auntie.
And her next words really broke me.
Grabe! 🤧 Nag goosebumps ako sa sinabi niya.
I was straight up stunned for five seconds absorbing what she said.
I hate working on holidays but at that very moment, I immediately picked up the application form as I explain to her the proposal na pinagkasya ko sa budget and told her na if kulangin, we will cover for the deficit.
Just imagine, thousands of filipinos out there na gustong mabago ang situation nila but financial illiteracy hinders them. My heart and advocacy are with these people.
Si Auntie our helper, barely making ends meet, breadwinner, slowly paying debts, worked for her lifetime, but has a really big heart for her family’s future.
Walang degree pero wais! 💯
Mabuhay mga breadwinners!
