“Baka hindi ko kayang hulugan every month.”

I understand po. And that's actually something we should take seriously.
Insurance should be sustainable, not something that will make it difficult for you to pay your bills or support your family.

Instead of starting with a fixed plan, let's first look at your current budget and determine an amount that you can realistically maintain.
We can then discuss what level of coverage may be available within that budget, including the policy's payment terms and conditions.

And before you decide, I'll make sure you understand what happens if payments are missed and the policy's applicable rules.

“May kilala akong kumuha ng insurance tapos hindi niya nakuha yung claim.”

Naiintindihan ko po. Kaya importante talaga na hindi lang tayo basta kumuha ng insurance.
We also need to understand exactly what we're buying.

What I can do is walk you through the actual policy—ano ang covered, ano ang exclusions, ano ang requirements, at paano ang claims process.

Pero isipin din natin ito:

What if habang pinag-iisipan natin, may mangyari?

What if an accident happens?
What if a serious illness comes unexpectedly?
What if the worst happens?

And one more thing: we are not getting younger.

Kaya minsan, the most expensive decision isn't buying insurance—it's waiting until it's too late to get it.

Pero ideally, that's actually the best outcome—we get to stay healthy and safe.

Insurance isn't something we buy because we want to use it; we buy it because we want financial protection in case something unexpected happens.

Parang fire extinguisher or seatbelt—sana hindi natin kailangang gamitin, pero we keep them because we want to be prepared.
The value of insurance is not necessarily in ‘getting your money back’; it's in transferring a financial risk that could otherwise be much more expensive.

Of course, benefits vary by policy, and some policies may have maturity, cash value, investment, or other benefits depending on the product. Kaya importante na malinaw sa'yo kung ano talaga ang policy you're getting and what happens if you don't make a claim.

If you could protect yourself from a potentially large financial loss for a manageable amount, would you consider that protection valuable even if you never needed to claim?

“Hindi ko naman kailangan, wala naman akong dependents.”

I understand po. If wala ka pang dependents, it makes sense that life insurance may not be your top priority. Pero insurance isn't only about providing money to dependents. It can also be about protecting your own financial future.

For example, if you experience a covered critical illness or another covered event, you may have medical expenses, recovery costs, or even loss of income. Depending on the policy, insurance benefits can provide financial support during that period.

And if someday you have a spouse, children, or other people depending on your income, you can review your coverage as your responsibilities change. We can simply look at what protection makes sense for your current situation and budget.

If no one depends on your income today, what would happen to your savings and financial goals if you suddenly couldn't work because of a covered illness or unexpected event?

“Mahal ang insurance.”

I understand po. And you're right—insurance can feel expensive, especially when you look at the premium without comparing it to the amount of protection you're getting.

The first thing we can do is look at your needs and budget. We can adjust the coverage and premium based on what is financially comfortable for you. Ang goal isn't to get the most expensive policy—the goal is to get appropriate protection that you can actually sustain.

At the same time, it's worth asking: expensive compared to what? If a covered critical illness or unexpected event happens, the financial impact can be much larger than the premium. Of course, insurance doesn't cover everything, and benefits depend on the specific policy terms and conditions.

So let's not start with the question, ‘Magkano ang insurance?’
Let's start with, ‘How much protection do you need, and what can you comfortably afford?

If we can find a level of protection that fits comfortably within your budget, would you be open to considering it?

“Investment na lang. Mas malaki ang balik.”

I agree, mas mataas ang potential return ng investment. Pero ang tanong is, kung may unexpected event habang hindi pa lumalaki enough yung investment mo, saan manggagaling ang pera?

Investment is designed to grow your money; insurance is designed to protect you financially. Magkaiba sila ng trabaho. Kaya mas maganda kapag may protection ka habang pinapalago mo yung investments mo.

If something unexpected happened tomorrow, would you rather be forced to sell your investments, or have a separate protection fund designed for that risk?

“May insurance na ako sa work.”

That's actually good! At least may existing protection ka through your company. 😊 Ang magandang i-check lang is kung hanggang saan ang coverage and what happens to it if you leave the company, change jobs, or retire.
In many employer-sponsored plans, coverage can be tied to your employment, so it's important to confirm the actual terms of your benefit.

Personal insurance can serve as an additional layer of protection that you own personally, subject to its policy terms. We can first review what you already have, identify any gaps, and only consider additional coverage if you actually need it.

Do you know how much your company insurance covers and what happens to your coverage when you leave the company?

“Bata pa naman ako.”

Exactly, and that's actually one of the best reasons to consider insurance while you're young and healthy.

Habang bata ka, you're also starting to build your career, savings, and future plans. The goal of insurance is to help protect those plans if something unexpected happens. And because you're still young and healthy, you may have more options available, subject of course to underwriting and the terms of the policy.

We can start with protection that fits your current needs and budget, then review it as your income and responsibilities grow.

Since you're young and just starting to build your future, what would you want to protect first—your income, health, savings, or your family's financial security?

“May HMO/PhilHealth naman ako.”

That's actually good! Maganda na may HMO at PhilHealth ka because they can help with eligible healthcare expenses. Hindi natin kailangang palitan iyon. Ang question is: sapat ba sila for every financial impact that can come with a serious illness or unexpected event?

HMO and PhilHealth primarily help with eligible medical or healthcare costs, while insurance can provide additional benefits depending on the policy, such as a lump-sum benefit for a covered critical illness or other covered events. That money can potentially help with expenses beyond medical bills, like daily living costs, transportation, family needs, or income disruption—subject to the policy terms and claim conditions.

So hindi HMO or PhilHealth versus insurance. They can work together. HMO and PhilHealth help with healthcare costs, while insurance can provide another layer of financial protection.

If you were diagnosed with a covered critical illness and your medical expenses were partly covered, how would you handle your family's daily expenses or possible loss of income while you're recovering?
