COUNTDOWN FOR A NEW CORE BANKING SYSTEM BEGINS
The Bank launched in an ambitious 2 year campaign that aims to migrate and align RCBC’s and RSB’s core banking systems into a much advanced facility. Utilizing the Finacle suite of banking solutions from INFOSYS, the new system will pave the way for greater ease and improved access to basic operational procedures, financial reporting and analyses, be
tter product and services offerings and an even more satisfying banking experience to RCBC customers. The project is a takeoff from RCBC President and CEO Lorenzo Tan’s constant reminders that the two main factors to an organization’s success are “people and technology.” RCBC, of late, has been aggressively hiring the best and brightest professionals from various industries to power its senior executive roster while training and re-training existing personnel complement. Tan’s success formula officially at work.
“We left no stones unturned in making our choice of the new core banking system,” explained RCBC Executive Vice President and IT/Operations Head Dennis C. Bancod. “Now that we’ve made the big choice, our next big challenge is to implement right away and do things right.”
The Project Steering Committee is chaired by no less than Lorenzo Tan, Dennis Bancod heads the Program Management Office, while Mary Jane Ang is the Project Integration Manager. “This should assure everyone that the project has the commitment and full support of management,” Bancod added. To get the project on full swing, 16 teams were formed to work on the different aspects of the shift. The team consists of members from all facets of the business. “But for success,” Ang said, “each member must have a mindset of being in One Team, having One Goal, as part of One Effort. Each of us should be prepared to deliver fast while managing our own current workload,” she added. “All of us would be asked to make sacrifices, work hard and render long hours.”
With these in place, the project team is confident to deliver the system on time.
