A NEW DIRECT CONNECTION BETWEEN THE PHILIPPINES AND ISRAEL 🇵🇭✈️🇮🇱

A significant milestone in Philippines-Israel relations has just been announced: direct nonstop flights between and are set to begin in January 2027.

Israeli airline Arkia Israeli Airlines will launch the new Tel Aviv-Manila direct route on January 3, 2027, with a weekly flight connecting Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL).

The approximately 12-hour nonstop service will mark an important new chapter in connectivity between our two countries, bringing the and closer than ever before.

For the Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ICCP), this is far more than a new air route.

Direct connectivity has the potential to create new opportunities for bilateral , , , , , and people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Israel.

The announcement also reinforces the broader momentum in Philippines-Israel economic relations. Philippine Ambassador to Israel Aileen Mendiola -Rau has highlighted the potential of direct connectivity to open further commercial and opportunities between the two countries, alongside aspirations to advance discussions on a future free trade agreement.

It will make it easier for Filipino and Israeli business , , , and to connect, explore and build partnerships across both markets.

The Philippines and Israel already share a long-standing friendship. A direct Manila-Tel Aviv flight can help translate that relationship into even stronger economic and commercial engagement.

Today, August 19, we remember the birth of President Manuel L. Quezon and an extraordinary chapter in the shared history of the Philippines and the Jewish people.

In the late 1930s, as Jewish families fled N**i persecution in Europe and much of the world was closing its doors, President Quezon chose a different path.

Through his Open Door Policy, the Philippines offered refuge to Jews fleeing Europe. Approximately 1,300 Jewish refugees ultimately found safety in the Philippines.

For those families, the Philippines offered more than refuge. It offered hope at a time when very few doors remained open.

This remarkable act of humanity became one of the foundations of the special relationship between the Filipino and Jewish peoples. In 1947, that connection was strengthened when the Philippines became the only Asian country to vote in favor of UN Resolution 181, supporting the establishment of a Jewish state.

Today, the friendship between the and continues to grow through our people and through cooperation in business, technology, agriculture, healthcare, innovation and many other fields.

At the Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ICCP), we are proud to carry this friendship forward by creating meaningful connections, partnerships and opportunities between our two countries.

President Quezon’s legacy reminds us that the strongest bonds between nations begin with people, with courage, compassion and the willingness to stand together when it matters most.

Philippines-Israel Friendship Day 🇵🇭🇮🇱

Each year on August 9, we commemorate Philippines-Israel Friendship Day, marking the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries in 1957.

The friendship between the and is rooted in a remarkable history of compassion, courage, and mutual respect.

In the late 1930s, President Manuel L. Quezon welcomed more than 1,200 Jewish refugees fleeing N**i persecution-an extraordinary humanitarian act that continues to be remembered with deep gratitude in Israel. This enduring legacy is honored by the Open Doors Monument in Rishon LeZion, inaugurated in 2009.

The relationship grew even stronger in 1947, when the Philippines became the only Asian nation to vote in favor of the United Nations resolution that paved the way for the establishment of the State of Israel.

Over the past six decades, the partnership between our two nations has continued to flourish through cooperation in , , , , , , and people-to-people exchanges.
