Last Tuesday, we celebrated Veterans Bank’s Annual Christmas Party, Paskong Pinoy at Pasasalamat 2024, at the Fairmont Hotel, Makati.

Even if I was experiencing jetlag, it was a wonderful evening, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to all our Service Awardees, Retirees, Lakan at Lakanbini, and Raffle Winners. Your dedication and contributions to the bank continue to inspire us all.

Cash Assistance and Certificate of Recognition from Veterans Bank

During the commemorative luncheon for the 80th Leyte Gulf Landings Anniversary, I had the privilege of personally giving tokens of appreciation from Veterans Bank to the 14 living Leyte veterans and their representatives.

It was a humbling experience to pay tribute to their courage and sacrifice, which will forever remain at the heart of our nation’s story.

‘War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes’ exhibit in Leyte

The ribbon-cutting ceremony of Veterans Bank’s ‘War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes’ exhibit at the Leyte Convention Complex. This exhibit, in partnership with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office and the Provincial Government of Leyte, is dedicated to the valiant men and women who shaped our history.

I extend my deepest thanks to House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho “Icot” L. Petilla, Ms. Frances Ann Petilla, and other distinguished guests for their support in making this event possible.

Our veterans’ heroism and unity remain a powerful legacy for all of us.

80th Leyte Gulf Landings Commemoration

I had the honor of attending the 80th Leyte Gulf Landings Commemoration in Palo, Leyte. It was a privilege to be invited alongside the living veterans of Leyte, with the presence of Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr., House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho “Icot” L. Petilla, Palo Mayor Remedios “Matin” L. Petilla, as well as guests from different parts of the world, in remembering the bravery of our veterans.

Under the theme, ‘Bayani Ng Kahapon, Dakilang Hawaran ng mga Kabataan Ngayon,’ we honor our heroes of yesterday, whose sacrifices inspire the youth of today. Their legacy of courage is something we all carry forward.

Yesterday, I had the honor of representing our Veterans Bank Chairman, Roberto de Ocampo, at the launch of the Negros Oriental Heroes Memorial Wall Project, commemorating the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Philippines during World War II. The event, held at Silliman University in Dumaguete City, was a meaningful tribute to our heroes especially the veterans of Negros Island.

My heartfelt thanks to The Roman T. Yap Foundation Inc., Silliman University, the City Government of Dumaguete, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Veterans Federation of the Philippines, The VFP Sons and Daughters Association, Inc., and the Board of Trustees of Veterans of World War II for this wonderful opportunity to honor our heroes.

After two years, it was great to be back at Veterans Bank Dumaguete branch and reconnect with some familiar faces. Looking forward to visiting more PVB branches across the country this year!
