Great news!

Answered prayer it is!

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has been showing their concern to us -- their beloved taxpayers -- by extending the deadlines of filing tax returns which are supposed to fall within the quarantine period. These are the memorandums issued so far:

Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 28-2020

Issued on March 18, 2020.

Extends the deadline of filing the annual income tax return for the year 2019 and its required attachments. Instead of April 15, 2020, the deadline will fall on May 15, 2020.

Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 29-2020

Issued on March 19, 2020.

Extends the deadline of various tax returns such as 2550M, 1600WP, 1601C, 0619E, 0619F, 2550Q, etc.

Deadlines are extended but please don't procrastinate. Please don't make last minute filing a habit.

What is a Sole Proprietor?

A sole proprietor, also known as the sole trader or simply a proprietor, is a type of enterprise or business that is owned and run by one person. The owner is in direct control of all elements and is legally accountable for the finances of such business and this may include debts, loans, loss, etc.

Advantages:

1. The owner receives all profits (subject to bir tax)
2. Every asset of the business is owned by the proprietor.
3. Minimal registration and set up cost
4. Minimal government monitoring

5. License of a sole proprietor entitles the owner to hire employees and enlist the services of independent consultants.

Disadvantages:

1. has unlimited responsibility for all
losses and debts.
2. All debts of the business are the
owners, hence, creditors may run after
owners personal assets and properties.
