The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), led by Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos launched the Genuine Ilocano program during the “Ilocos Norte Night” held in Hawaii, United States of America strengthening ties between Ilocos Norte and Ilokanos abroad through a unified membership and engagement program.
As one of the key objectives of the tourism, youth, trade, and investment mission, the program aims to provide overseas Ilokanos with opportunities to stay actively involved in the province through tourism, investment, MSME linkages, cultural engagement, and community partnerships. Through the platform, members may access travel benefits, airport assistance, exclusive event invitations, tourism activities and business and investment opportunities in Ilocos Norte.
Carrying the theme “Your Way IN.,” Genuine Ilokano program was introduced as a digital and physical membership platform designed to reconnect Ilokanos, Filipino-Americans, balikbayans, investors, tourists, and supporters worldwide to opportunities, services, and programs in Ilocos Norte.
Gov. Araneta-Marcos emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties among Ilokanos across the globe, highlighting Hawaii's deep historical connection with Ilocos Norte and the lasting contribution of Ilokano migrants to the Filipino community abroad.
“We believe that every Ilokano, even from afar, you never forgot who you are, you never forgot the love you have for Ilocos Norte,” Gov. Araneta-Marcos stated during her speech.
“In many ways, the Genuine Ilokano program is our way of saying: you may have built your life across the world, but Ilocos Norte will always welcome you home with open arms, and there will always be a place for you in our future,” she added.
PGIN encourages Ilokanos around the world to become part of the Genuine Ilokano program and continue strengthening the shared identity, culture, and future of Ilocos Norte by staying involved and supporting local communities and opportunities.
