BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COOPERATIVE
The idea of establishing a cooperative in Iligan City for the Seventh-day Adventists emanated from the initiative of an economist who then was the President of the Movement of Accredited Christian Federation of Adventists (MACFA) in 2006 in order to uplift the economic status of the church members. The staff of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) conducted pre-membership seminar to almost a hundred members of the Federation. Thereafter, officers were elected to initiate the organization of the cooperative. Eventually, there were several changes made on the set of officers until finally, interested members were invited to serve as Board of Directors (BOD).
The cooperative was formally registered with the CDA in 2007 when a number of pioneering members fully-convinced of IBMP’s Vision, Mission and Goals, undoubtedly gave their earnest support by putting in their capital build-ups (CBU). The authorized capital then was merely one million pesos. There were only a few who joined this cooperative with the intention to apply for loans at the very start. Nevertheless, during its subsequent operations, the IBMPC, with the Lord’s blessings, had gained a favorable stride through the collective investments, i.e. capital shares, savings, and time deposits of the Board of Directors and other supportive members, which undoubtedly attributed to the liquidity ratio of 337% on 2011
