..A Hard Lesson On Security...Seuring Your MSD...Apr. 14, 2018..
I am one of those who believes in the potential that is with MSD and i have been on the update on its prices from time to time. I am a trader myself but i do prefer long term which is what i saw with msd. So far, i have garnered some good amount of msd which is stored in my wallet. I bought some MSD with tidex.
I have about some msd in my tidex account. It was quite a good some but i do believe in diversification which is the reason why most of my msd is in my e-wallet at mymsdspace. All was good last month. I thought it would stay to be that way until last week.
I opened my account at tidex and to my surprise, my msd was gone. i didn't believe it at first until i opened my deposit and withdrawal history. I was not pleased. Here was a problem in front of my eyes. How can it be? I asked myself.
My msd was gone. fortunately, the history allowed me to track to which msd wallet my coins was sent. The culprit really took it all. What a weasel! 0x53c08945d49402e60d2f428490298d8895cce3a9... this was the address my coins was sent. You'll be able to see in my past transactions history that this is the first time this has appeared. I don't even know to whom this is.
The thief has been able to get into my account with not much a trace. I have already set up my 2-factor authentication way before which means that everytime i logged into my tidex account, i have to get the code to my yahoo account in able to log in. When i looked at my emails at yahoo, there was no email sent for the 2FA. Weird really or is it just that the hacker has a vast knowledge on this.
I already reported this to tidex but they just sent an email to reset my password which i did the moment i clarified that i got hacked. Their response is not satisfying. They said they can't do anything more about it. They should have at least track the user. An improvement on their customer service is a must.
I researched on some things about this which maybe of some help for others. The experience thought me a lot about security. If I'm not mistaken, i bought those coins when msd price was still at 0.0057 dollars. Lucky me. But, luck didn't helped me out this time when those coins were stolen from me. Now that the price is at 0.027 dollars currently, it pains me to be in such a situations as i am now. A hard lesson indeed!
I read a lot about on the internet how it would be wise for any cryptocurrency enthiusiasts to put their coins in their personal wallet and not leave it on the exchange platform. Its much safer that way they said. It was late of me to know of it. If i knew then, i would have transferred all of my msd to my wallet at mymsdspace. Apparently, i have two msd wallet for my shareholder and my ordinary client package.
I retraced what i've done in order for the hacker to get some credentials in order to be able to get into my account. I can think of 3 ways that this incident could have happen. This is just my assumptions and i have yet to support any of these possibilities of mine.
The first would have to involve coinstrade.pro. I don't know what happened to the site but it's not the same as before and it doesn't give me a positive response. When i first heard of the new exchanger, i was like everybody else. I was excited. I looked forward into using it to be able to convert my msd directly into fiat currency. So, just like everyone else, i navigated on the website and registered. I put in my email and waited for a confirmation. I put in my yahoo account as my email. it was at the last week of March when i did that. After some time or about two hours of my input, i remembered that a gmail account would be the thing to use since postmaster cannot send a mail to yahoo which is what i knew. It was a mistake.
Apparently, when i checked my yahoo account, there was no email from coinstrade.pro. And so, i checked on my gmail account. The one i input a while back then and then there was the confirmation for the email from coinstrade.pro. with the credentials sent, i use it to be able to logged in to the site to have a good look on what's inside. The first thing to popped up was to change your password which i did. It think it was another mistake. it has been a practice in my part to use the same password for almost all of my log-ins, something which i shouldn't have done in the first place for security. It left me vulnerable. I had input my yahoo email as well my password which is the same at the site so if any would try if they can logged into my account, they would be able to do so. In consequence, my tidex account would be in the same case. Big big mistake.
If the hacker someone have used the info i sent in coinstrade.pro, he would have access to my yahoo email if he ever did tried which in turn enables him to be able to get also in my tidex account. In able to cover his tracks, he could have easily deleted the email sent by tidex to allow for the attempt for authorized login. If it were the case, i wouldn't be able to confirm it since the trash folder of my yahoo mail has also been deleted of any contents if there have been any. In all this, the hacker knew he had to acquire some msd wallet in order to transfer the coins. There is something in the internet called Phishing and it's a way for unwanted individuals to get some info from you which they can try to log in any of your accounts. Something to be aware of.
My second theory would have to be this. If the first possibillity involving coinstrade.pro would be false, another thing i can think of would have to be when i used the internet cafe. There are a lot here in our place where one would have to pay some amount for a certain time in able to have access in the internet with a computer. There is that possibility that a key logger would have been installed there and so enable someone to have the info necessary to try getting into my tidex account and in turn get my msd. It made me quite acquire of such a thing.
My third would be an inside job in tidex. Someone may have messed with my account seeing the potential with msd and stole my coins. But, with such a big company, it is very unlikely since if they want to have a transparent exchanger, they would be preventing such incidents as this. The company happens to be gaining popularity with its good features.
This experience have certainly taught me. The hard way it is. I've reset my passwords and my accounts with yahoo, gmail as well as tidex. I won't be using my old account with tidex where my msd was stolen. I have a new one to do some trading if i see it fit. My msd accounts with mymsdynasty have also got some new emails for confirmations since i made new gmail accounts for any postmaster emails.
Rest assured, I did not do any transfer from my tidex account to the wallet i have written above and pretty sure, he won't be able to present any kind of proof or receipt if ever he did bought if from me since I'm not selling any of my msd since February. I was planning on trading it when the msd price would hopefully reached $0.2 this may or June or may even sooner, this april perhaps. I think a breakout is near for msd once it reach the $0.035 dollar. It'll eventually fly from this point. Of course, this is all just basing on my analysis of the market so a second opinion is appreciated.
I am sharing this experience of mine for everyone to benefit. Apparently, having different passwords for your accounts may be quite a hassle but it's better than to have an unwanted entry anytime in the future. So, better have some pen and paper to note your passwords on your accounts and as much as possible secure your infos. Don't let anyone take advantage of it. I do hope such an unlawful act as this would be prevented as I do still have high hopes for MSD. It will be a great coin indeed. Thanks and Good day..
