𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | SSLG prexy bares past milestones, future plans
“All these were materialized because of your cooperation.”
In retrospect of their leadership milestones, Supreme Secondary Learners Government (SSLG) President Shanelle Huqueriza highlighted the importance of students’ cooperation during the State of Learners Government address at the Monday flag ceremony on Aug. 11.
Representing the highest student governing body in Ramon A. Benjamin Sr. NHS, the president presented the organization’s accomplishments for SY 2024-2025 and discussed plans for SY 2025-2026.
𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀
Before the start of SY 2024-2025, the SSLG participated in Brigada Eskwela to prepare the school for the opening of classes in July 2024.
A series of activities followed in August, including the annual fiesta celebration of Dumarao town.
The SSLG actively supported and participated in the Padagyaw Cultural Performance, which showcased their dedication to promoting cultural heritage, Huqueriza said, while also mentioning the Buwan ng Wika celebration that was held in collaboration with the Filipino department.
September saw the Science-Math Month celebration with contests, tree planting, and a quiz bee, while in October, the SSLG honored teachers through an initiative titled “Teachers On Top.”
“Our school hosted DUMSISAA 2024, a celebration of teamwork and sportsmanship, on October 26-27, 2024. The SSLG and YES-O officers joined forces to make this event unforgettable,” the SSLG president added.
According to Huqueriza, the SSLG organized the highly anticipated school Christmas program on December 19, 2024, which included the following activities: Giant Christmas Tree Contest, Mr. and Ms. Yuletide 2024, caroling, and Zumba.
In January, the SSLG launched the "Feed to Fit" program, and in February, it featured "Hear Me Out" and "Abilidad" Season 2.
From June to August, as stated by the SSLG president, the activities Brigada Eskwela, Brigada Pagbasa, tree planting, Nutrition Month celebration, and waste disposal monitoring were conducted.
𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀
The SSLG president also shared the organization’s general plan of action for this school year as supervised by their adviser, Ma. Cecilia Ibabao.
According to Huqueriza, the month of September will feature Fruity Sep-timber, the Science Fair, Sci-Math contests, a fun walk, and DRRM training.
Meanwhile, October will highlight the UN celebration and Teachers’ Month celebration, while November will have Students’ Day and the Book Month celebration.
December activities will include the Mr. and Ms. Yuletide and gift-giving. While the month of February will bring Feb-Ever Love and Mr. and Ms. Valentine’s, in March the school will focus on graduation preparations.
Furthermore, a monthly mass will be held regularly every month.
Huqueriza hopes that students will continue to be engaged in the activities in line for this school year.
