Para sa mga hindi pa po nakakaalam, ang 𝐕𝐔𝐋 po ay life insurance with investment component. Halimbawa, 2 Million ang kinuha mong life insurance, day 1 pa lang covered ka agad ng ganitong halaga. Ibig sabihin in case mawala ka, may marereceive ang beneficiaries mo na death benefit worth 2 Million. Madalas nilalagyan din ito ng mga health coverage para kung magkasakit ka ng kritikal, meron ka ding matatanggap na malaking halaga pang pagamot.

"Pero 2M din ba ang babayaran ko?" Siyempre hindi. Maliit na halaga lang ang huhulugan mo (Yes. Discounted na, hulugan pa). Dedepende ang babayaran mo sa kung magkano ang gusto mong iwan sa family mo o makuhang benefit pag nagkasakit ka.

Then habang insured ka ni Sun Life, merong portion na napupunta sa investment na pwedeng lumaki overtime. San ka nakakita non? Habang pinoproktetahan mo yung sarili mo, meron ka ding pwedeng asahan na pera in the future. Para sa mga goals mo: pangpatayo ng bahay, pang start ng business, pang dream travel, pang kuha ng dream car, pang college tuition ng mga anak, pang pakasal, o para pag wala ka ng tinatanggap na sahod dahil hindi mo na kayang magwork, may pera kang magagamit. Ikaw ang bahala.

A few weeks ago, I attended a seminar at our church called "Let's Talk Finance" and had the privilege of learning from Mr. Randell Tiongson, one of the most respected financial coaches. He shared a Bible verse that truly struck and spoke to me.

As someone who’s part of the “Sandwich Generation,” I know this message isn’t just for our parents - it’s for us, the working individuals, the breadwinners, and those who still have the strength to earn. Supporting our parents is not a burden, but let’s be real. It's not always easy.

We have the knowledge, education, and awareness to handle our finances more wisely, and that comes with a responsibility. I hope and pray that we all decide to take action now while we’re healthy and capable, to plan for the future. We need a long-term perspective, when age, exhaustion, or illness will make it impossible to provide for ourselves.

So to my fellow Sandwich Generation, let’s start preparing for our retirement today. A well-planned retirement isn’t just for us but it’s one of the best legacies we can leave for the next generation. Let’s ensure we don’t pass on the burden, but instead pass on the blessing of preparedness.
