CEBU CITY, Philippines โ Cebu is about to welcome a new world-class events destination as SM Seaside Cebu Arena prepares to officially open this June, with developers confirming it will be larger than the iconic Mall of Asia Arena.
Developed by SM Prime Holdings, the massive arena rises within the master-planned South Coast City, further cementing Cebuโs position as a premier hub for concerts, sports, and major entertainment events in the Visayas and Mindanao.
According to SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim, the SM Seaside Cebu Arena boasts a seating capacity of 16,000โsurpassing MOA Arenaโs 15,000 seatsโwith a full capacity that can reach up to 25,000 attendees. The venue occupies a building footprint of around 1.6 hectares, with a total gross floor area spanning approximately 7.4 hectares.
Ahead of its opening, SM Prime revealed that discussions are already underway with concert promoters, sports federations, and entertainment producers to bring both local and international events to Cebu. The arena is designed to accommodate large-scale foreign concert tours and major sporting competitions, similar to global events previously hosted at MOA Arena, including international basketball and volleyball tournaments.
The opening lineup is expected to begin with a local artist, followed by a much bigger launch headlined by a global act. SM Prime noted that while international performers often book schedules more than a year in advance, the company is committed to ensuring a world-class opening worthy of the venue.
Once operational, the SM Seaside Cebu Arena will feature multi-level spectator seating, professional-grade sports and entertainment systems, corporate suites, VIP lounges, and a diverse range of food, beverage, and lifestyle offerings. A SkyBridge will also seamlessly connect the arena to SMX Convention Center Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu, ensuring smooth crowd flow, comfort, and accessibility.
With its scale, facilities, and strategic location, the SM Seaside Cebu Arena is poised to redefine live entertainment in Cebuโand raise the bar for major events outside Metro Manila.
