I still remember way back in November 2008 when I witnessed how my mother suffered from a stroke. In front of me, she had a stroke twice inside her hospital room. Seeing what's happening, I am so helpless. Afterwards, reality struck me. First, I am unprepared emotionally. Second, I have nothing, no savings, no personal insurance. In short, I was living paycheck to paycheck and worse I am the only child. In short, I am the ultimate bread winner. Luckily, my mother was covered by my company HMO so the expenses in the hospital were shoulder, however, I did not know that the expenses on the treatment, maintenance, and all will be more than my monthly gross income. I am done!!!
Years passed by, and I am able to survive on a daily basis but still I could not find the way to get out of my financial troubles. I thought earning more in the corporate world would be the solution, however, I learned it the hard way. Corporate salary will never be the solution! First you have to understand and accept your current financial situation, second, you have to set a goal. My goal that time is to learn how other people are able to enjoy their hard earned money without worrying about their family needs. I envy those people who went to the restaurant without worrying about the price. These are the things I wanted to experience that someday, I will have the luxury to eat in the hotel without checking the price before reading the menu. I want to experience that if I am tired, I just need to travel to reset and energize again.
Then one day, I am so fed up with all the downs and less ups of my life. Not to mention the traffic I have to endure everyday just to work for someone else! S**t! This is the life I am living. I can not be like this forever. A perfect opportunity knocks, a company in the US offering me a work from home setup and to my surprise the pay was double from my current only I have 12 months contract. I took the risk and made the decision which leads me to my current life. I did not regret my unknown and full of fear journey as a freelancer as I learned how to do business. Because of the failed business I first started, I learned that my weakness is “Financial Management” and I hate numbers! No choice, I need to learned it and I went to the bookstore and bought my ever first book “Increase Your Financial IQ by Robert Kiyosaki” After reading the book, I realized that it was advance for my level of understanding but it was also the opening in my journey in the ROAD of Financial Freedom!
Now that I learned the hard way, the best advice I can give you if you know nothing about Financial and if you still have not secured your four financial safety nets. Then, start first in understanding INSURANCE. Why? Because if you understand how insurance works, you are able to build your four financial safety nets in a solid foundation.
If you want to know more, feel free to message me. I will be glad to discuss with you the Four Financial Safety Net and the contribution of insurance in your ROAD to Financial Freedom!
