Just sharing this about my life insurance, especially for those who think it’s “lugi.” 🤔
I currently have Prulink Assurance Account Plus with:
✔️ ₱2.8M Life Coverage
✔️ ₱1M Critical Illness Coverage
✔️ Personal Accident & Murder Benefit
✔️ Burial Assistance
✔️ Daily Hospital Income
✔️ AccidentalMedical Expense Reimbursement
✔️ Waiver for Total Permanent Disability
✔️ Plus an investment component (with fund value, but not guaranteed)
My monthly premium is ₱4,000, and yes—this is a regular pay plan (lifetime to pay).
Now let’s address the “lugi” mindset. Life insurance is mainly for PROTECTION, not investment. The investment part is just a bonus (“pakapin”) and may go up or down.
If you compute it:
₱2,800,000 ÷ ₱4,000 = 700 months
700 ÷ 12 = around 58 years
Meaning, you’d have to save ₱4,000/month for about 58 years (without considering interest or inflation) to reach ₱2.8M on your own. But with insurance, if something happens to me (knock on wood 🙏), my family can receive ₱2.8M after claim processing—generally tax-free under current laws—plus possible fund value.
Now ask yourself:
If you just save ₱4,000/month in the bank… will your family receive ₱2.8M right away if something unexpected happens to you?
That’s the real value of life insurance.
At the end of the day, life insurance is not for everyone—we all have different priorities and mindsets. But for me, it’s about protecting the people I love, not just saving money.
Just sharing my thoughts. Something to think about. 💭
