"This is a true to life STORY from my
co financial advisor."
About 3 years ago i meet a couple who works abroad, i offered to both of them an insurance protection with critical illness rider coverage.
They declined because according to them they are covered in the country they are living plus they are insured by the government of that country.
Fast forward about 2 months ago, i learned that the husband was hospitalized for a dreaded disease, true enough the husband is covered for the hospitalization but the problem now is that the husband cannot go back to work and will forever be relying to the support of his wife.
Lesson # 1: People decline insurance when they're still healthy and able, while insurance declined people when they're no longer insurable...So please OFW'S who might read my post, dont wait until you are no longer insurable because by that time INSURANCE will surely DECLINED you even if you have money to pay for the premium.
Lesson # 2 : Do not think that you are healthy and wealthy all your life. Remember that life is uncertain and it is better to prepare now than to be sorry later. Paying insurance premium is just a fraction of what is guaranteed in your insurance policy, remember these: you get sick insurance will pay, you die insurance will pay, you retired insurance will pay. In every angle you and your family is the winner not us financial advisors.
Lesson # 3 : It pays well to Plan Ahead. Imagine if the couple i meet 3 years ago paid for the insurance premium i offered them, they could only have paid a total of 180k for 3 years, but the husband could have received a critical illness money in the amount of 1.5 million peso. In short the couple could have gain at least more than 1000% times the amount they paid.
Reality maybe harsh most of the time but in this story clearly the couple could have won by listening to my sound advise. Sad part is most OFWs gone home without a savings or investment of their own. To all my OFW friends and their relatives dont wait that this story might happen to you, contact any of your financial advisor friends and plan your best life.
Remember your Best Life begins with a Plan.
