Seeing my best friend finally marry the love of her life fills my heart with so much joy. And it became even more meaningful as I handed her the policy for her insurance plan—not just as her financial advisor, but as someone who truly wants to see her future protected.

The recent story about a member who was unable to receive a PhilHealth claim because the confinement was less than 24 hours has raised many questions and concerns.

This is a good opportunity to understand that PhilHealth and life insurance serve different purposes.

✅ PhilHealth helps cover a portion of hospitalization and medical expenses based on existing policies, requirements, and benefit limits.

✅ Life Insurance (such as Pru Life UK plans) provides a fixed amount of coverage that is stated in the policy. If the insured passes away and the claim requirements are met, the death benefit is paid to the beneficiaries, regardless of the actual hospital bill or length of confinement.

For example, if a policy has a ₱1 million life insurance coverage, the beneficiaries may receive ₱1 million upon a valid death claim, helping the family manage immediate expenses and maintain financial stability during a difficult time.
