I received this email yesterday on my personal email address, claiming that my information came from Pru Life UK.

As someone who has been connected with the company for more than 4 years, I personally find it difficult to believe that confidential client and agent information is being sold or shared that easily. Those who are policyholders know how strict the company is when it comes to data privacy and policy transactions.

In fact, even simple policy amendments go through thorough verification processes. There are also strict requirements when it comes to payment methods, policy ownership, and client authorization. This level of scrutiny is one of the reasons why client information is taken very seriously.

Personally, I believe they may have obtained some of my information from my public social media accounts since I am very active online.

To everyone who may receive similar emails:
❌ Do not reply.
❌ Do not click any links.
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information.
❌ Do not engage with the sender.

This is a common tactic used by scammers and phishing groups to gather personal information and gain access to accounts.

Please stay vigilant. Scammers are becoming more creative and sophisticated every day, and awareness is our first line of defense.

After reading the comments on Brenda’s post, I realized that the issue isn’t always insurance itself, sometimes it’s the lack of proper understanding and explanation from the start.

Many people think insurance is a savings account or an investment that guarantees they’ll get back every peso they paid. But insurance was never designed for that.

Insurance is protection.

Protection when you’re diagnosed with a critical illness.
Protection when an accident happens.
Protection when disability affects your ability to earn.
Protection for the house, land, business, and assets you’ve spent years building, so you’re not forced to sell them during a financial or medical emergency.
Protection for your savings and investments from being wiped out by unexpected expenses.
Protection for the family you’ll leave behind someday.

The reality is this.

If you’ve been paying for years and thankfully nothing happened to you, that’s actually a blessing.

Because the goal of insurance is not to “win” by claiming. The goal is to have financial protection when life takes an unexpected turn.

Yes, some policies have fund value that you can access in the future. But that should never be confused with a regular savings account. The insurance coverage you’re enjoying throughout those years is what you’re primarily paying for.

Think about it this way.

You don’t buy a fire extinguisher hoping your house catches fire. You buy it because you’ll be grateful it’s there when you need it.

Same with insurance.

So before getting any policy:
✅ Research the company.
✅ Understand the product.
✅ Ask questions.
✅ Choose an agent who educates, not just sells.

Let’s not allow one misunderstanding to erase the thousands of Filipino families whose lives were saved financially because of insurance.

Financial literacy starts with understanding, not assumptions. ❤️
