๐ต๐ญ Did you know? The Philippine flag was first waved in battleโnot in a ceremony! โ๏ธ
On May 28, 1898, after the historic Battle of Alapan, General Emilio Aguinaldo raised our flag for the very first time. It didnโt just mark a military victoryโit ignited the spirit of a free Filipino nation. ๐ต๐ญ๐ฅ
Starting TODAY, May 28, until June 12 (Independence Day)โand sometimes extended to June 30โweโre all encouraged to proudly display the Philippine flag in our homes, offices, schools, and even vehicles. Letโs wear our pride, not literallyโbut the right way. ๐
๐ซ Bawal ba talaga โyan?
YES! Under the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (RA 8491), these are common but prohibited practices:
โ Using the flag as clothing, costume, or fashion piece
โ Printing the flag on commercial items like bags, mugs, or ballers
โ Displaying the flag with red on top (unless the country is officially at war)
โ Letting the flag touch the ground, be torn, or fade due to neglect
โ ๏ธ You might be disrespecting the flag and not even know it!
Letโs all take a moment to do better, out of love and respect for our identity as Filipinos. ๐ฏ
๐ฏ What will YOU do for your flag and country today?
Maybe itโs raising your flag at home, teaching a child our history, or simply being a responsible and honest citizen. ๐ต๐ญ
Every simple act of patriotism adds up.
