123 years ago, the first Philippine President, Emilio Aguinaldo, proclaimed the independence of the Philippines from its Spanish colonizer. As we commemorate this important time in the country’s history, let us reflect on what this means to us today, over one hundred twenty years later.
Amid the war we are fighting today with an unseen enemy (physical and mental), the words of National Hero Jose Rizal still resonates, reminding us the power of our mind and heart to win. At home, as we struggle to work despite numerous distractions, or outside bravely going about our daily work to serve customers despite fear of exposure, we can only rely on the force of our will to overcome our difficulties. And with the challenges that we face every day, it is only with our passion to fulfill our purpose of helping others so they can live better lives that we can uplift our spirit and continue, despite numerous rejections.
These are unprecedented times. Just like in 1898, the future seems uncertain. But we must fight the helplessness and sense of uncontrol. With the power of our mind and the strength of our heart, we can win this battle and achieve freedom from the inner and external battles we face every day.
A meaningful Independence Day to everyone..
