Cebu City – From its humble beginnings in 1931, Visayan Surety & Insurance Corporation (VSIC) proudly marks 94 years of unwavering commitment to the Filipino insuring public. Founded during the height of the Great Depression by a visionary group of business leaders led by Manuel Gotianuy, Jose Leyson, Lim Bonfing, and others, the company rose above economic turmoil to become a symbol of resilience, strength, and integrity in the insurance industry.
What began as Union Surety & Insurance Corp. quickly evolved into Visayan Surety & Insurance Corporation, a name that has since been synonymous with trust and service for generations.
Among only a handful of Chinese-owned non-life insurance firms founded in the 1930s, VSIC is the sole survivor, weathering cycles of boom and bust for nearly a century.
Through the leadership of three generations of the Gotianuy family — including the esteemed Atty. Augusto W. Go, current Chairman and major stockholder — VSIC has transformed from a pioneering family enterprise to a strong, well-respected institution. The company continues to honor its legacy by delivering stable, secure, and prudent insurance solutions, all while upholding the founding values that built its name.
