Client Advisory: New Guidelines for Large Cash Transactions
Dear Valued Client,
To enhance security and combat unlawful activities, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued Circular No. 1218, Series of 2025, on September 18, 2025. This circular introduces new guidelines for handling large cash transactions.
Effective immediately, please take note of the following updates:
1. Transaction Limit
Over-the-counter cash transactions (cash withdrawals and payouts) are limited to ₱500,000.00 (or its foreign currency equivalent), whether in a single transaction or multiple transactions made on the same day.
2. Permitted Transaction Methods
We encourage transactions above this limit to be processed through one of the following methods:
• Check payments
• Fund transfers
• Direct credit to deposit accounts
• BSP-approved digital payment platforms
3. Required Documentation for Transactions Above ₱500,000
For transactions exceeding the limit, clients will be required to provide:
• Valid identification
• Proof of the transaction's purpose (e.g., business-related documentation)
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to ensure the security and integrity of financial transactions.
