"Growing up, I learned about hard work early on. My parents were always busy, never sitting still or wasting time. It was all about work—every single day—because they believed in building a better future for us. And, true enough, we didn’t just get by with what we needed, we achieved many of the things we wanted too.
Because of that, I used to think that when people failed, it was simply because they weren’t responsible or hardworking enough. That was my narrow view at the time.
But now, after going through more of life’s ups and downs, I’ve realized how wrong that thinking was. I totally agree with the idea that 'it’s unfair to say someone isn’t working hard enough when they clearly are.' The real issue is that it’s not just about working hard—it’s about working on the right things. You can spend hours grinding away, but if you’re focused on the wrong problem, it won’t get you anywhere. On the other hand, a single hour of working on the right thing can make a huge difference.
So, I’ve learned to be more thoughtful about where I put my energy. Yes, effort is important, but the direction you take is everything. It’s not enough to just work hard—you’ve got to make sure you’re working hard on the right things."
