Was a very productive weekend in our 1905 home. Landscaping is about complete, around the actual house anyway. 16,000 pounds of Aqua Granite stone (1.5 inch) put in place. We are very happy with the outcome. We did have help (last pic). We are sore!!

Hi all! My potential contractor is suggesting we keep this 30 yr old seldom used garden tub as we update our bathroom for our latter years. We will convert our fiberglass shower unit to some type of tile with a door rather than sliding doors and get more usable space. New tile flooring is the thought with new paint overall. I think we will go back to popcorn or some other more moisture resistant ceiling too. New double sinks and cabinets. I think that the old tub will make the renovation look half done in the end. It appears to have cracking around the rusting(?) drain too. It is hard for me to know if it makes sense financially to keep the old one or if he wants to do what is easiest for him. We have a 2200 sq ft one story brick house. So it isn’t high end. I just want it renewed and better where possible. I would love to hear from you guys on this. Keep the tub or dump it?

We just bought this 1936 bungalow which has a good amount of work to do. The floors all need to be refinished, the dining room has horrible thick paint over the wood on the corner cabinets, China cabinets and trim. We also need to add an additional bathroom upstairs , paint (I’m not a fan of all the white) and a list of mostly cosmetic items. I’m looking for suggestions on curb appeal (landscape will be happening- my husband owns a landscape company), paint colors inside , and anyone who has added a bathroom to an old house. Anything we should be aware of? We also need to put a tv in the front room with all the windows and I really don’t want it over the fireplace!

My 1942 farmhouse kitchen was never going to be as new as I wanted it, so I attempted to make it a little older instead. Definitely not "authentic" to any particular time period, it still brings me colorful joy to cook in.

Hello, not posted in a while. Here’s a few newly decorated rooms to browse along with the old ones. The kitchen is still under major maintenance lol I will show you all when the worktops have been installed…soon hopefully. I’ve put you a little kitchen mood board together somewhere amongst the photos to show you my intentions 😂 I just hope it looks as good as it does in my mind lol 🤦🏼‍♀️ Happy Friday everyone 🩷

I have a question for you all: when you were first buying your old house, and you knew there would be more costs associated with it than a newer house, how did you go about making peace with that decision? I feel like emotionally, my husband and I are in love with this house, and even after looking at other ones it’s this one that we keep coming back to. It feels RIGHT. But financially it’s a little scary. I know to restore it is going to take a lot of money, and time, and work. We are trying to find a contractor familiar with old homes to do a pre-offer walk through with us to figure out the full extent of what we are looking at, but scenes from “The Money Pit” with Tom Hanks keep flashing in my mind 😂
UPDATE: had the home inspection today and it went much better than I was prepared for! Honestly nothing major! 😅 The roof has a few years left but we may want to just redo it now while we’re financially able to. Other than that it’s just a lot of projects that we can do ourselves or hire out as needed. Putting an offer in, cross your fingers for us please! This place has claimed our hearts. ❤️

This house has been an absolute dream come true for my husband and I. When we first saw it, we saw a quirky house, not going to lie lol. But something about it when we walked inside immediately grew on us. As we walked through each room, we saw more and more potential. We found out the previous owners had lived here for over 50 years and raised their 4 babies in this home. It felt so right to take advantage of the opportunity to take our shot at purchasing this house. We felt very strong that this could be the place where we could raise our babies. Our goal is to fill this house with as much love, laughter, and memories with as many family and friends as possible. We have only been living in this house for about 2 months full-time now, but we’ve already made some wonderful memories here and can’t wait for the next 50 years!
Now because this house is 124 years old and the same couple lived here for SO long and were elderly, this house needed a definite facelift and some love put back into it. The previous owners took such great care of this house and were SO proud of it. We have been working really hard to put our own stamp on this house and making it ours, while also respecting the age of this house. We love how old it is and the history that’s held here, so we are trying to go for a modern-vintage feel in the house, bringing in some newer age designs, but also letting the beauty of this old house shine through.
Enjoy a few before and after pictures of the projects we’ve been working on! I am SO new to decorating or doing any type of home projects/renovations, so any advice or suggestions to add more character and life into these spaces are welcome 😂 we still have a lot of decorating left to do and more carpets to replace, but it’s been a fun 2 months so far!
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

I'm looking for recommendations for a complete rewire along with more outlets in my 1940s house. I'm in NW Georgia I know I will have holes and I know how to fix them but I'm not sure what other problems I might expect. House pic for attention.
