Our Lady of Peace Credit Cooperative is one of the hundreds of cooperatives existing in the City of Antipolo. It is named after the National Shrine Patroness, the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
It started due to the clamor of the Parish Pastoral officers during the time of Bishop Emeritus Protacio G. Gungon, to help the church vendors get rid of the usurious 5-6 and Bombay financiers. Seeing how they were burdened by the usurers, the PPC officers sought the help of the Bishop to organize themselves into a cooperative. Thru the guidance and support of Sis. Mary Loretta S. Aquino, SPC., Sis. Monica Mandap, SHC and Sis. Rose Colima (now Emma Colima Gatoteo), they were assigned by the Bishop to gather interested vendors who wanted to avoid usurers and have them attend Fridays and Saturdays Pre-Membership Seminar for a span of one month with an invited guest speaker from San Dionisio Credit Cooperative, Ms. Marlyn Estrella.
To start the cooperative, an attendee of said PMES acted as volunteer to receive deposits from the first 17 members who contributed their shares as the first share capital, and with Php10,000.00 seed money from the Bishop. The business began with Php800.00 as the very first loan granted/released to a member that time. During its first year of operation, it was purely credit type of cooperative which accepts savings and grants loans only as services given to members. Bishop Protacio Gungon serves as the cooperative’s adviser together with Sis. Mary Loretta S. Aquino, Sis. Monica Mandap acted as treasurer where collections of the volunteer member who acted as the cashier, are remitted for the day and she in turn deposited it to our depository bank. Sis. Emma Colima serves as member-guide if there were some inquiries also. Later, Mrs. Hermenegilda Dallarte who saw the OLPCC signage after attending the mass, approached and talked with Sis. Loretta and offered her help for our Cooperative. She even brought us to their cooperative office (Paltok Credit Cooperative) in Quezon City, to observe how and what to do to improve our knowledge on cooperative and fulfill our functions as different committee members while observing also in the said office.
At present, other services offered by the OLPCC nowadays aside from savings and regular loans include special loans, appliance loans, memorial services and memorial lot loans, commodity loans and gift cheque loans. Members are entitled to Damayan Fund, rebates, patronage refund, dividend, interest on savings deposit and Loan Redemption Fund.
We share our blessings by involving in the Social Service Ministry of the Immaculate Conception Parish, giving our shares for the community services especially for the medical missions, outreach programs, etc.
OLPCC is affiliated with PFCCO, SLRL, CUR, and ACCFED. On April 25, 1998, the PFCCO awarded OLPCC as Most Outstanding Financial Performance, for keeping up with credit cooperative’s standards for the safety and soundness of our financial operations like financial stability and self-reliance and at the same time, in support of the PFCCO objectives on self-reliance and poverty alleviations.
Oct. 24, 2007, the Antipolo City Cooperative and Livelihood office, awarded OLPCC as the 4th Outstanding Primary Cooperative for its remarkable achievement in line with cooperative business and objectives.
With full guidance of the Lord Almighty and Virgin Mary and the untiring support and good management and dedication of the officers, the manager, together with the help and cooperation of the members of the OLPCC, we have availed a 225sqm. lot in the amount of Php2.4M and we were able to construct a 3 storey building through its own finances in the amount of roughly Php7M, modesty aside, OLPCC has not avail of any bank loans for the construction of OLPCC Building, where its 20thGen. Assembly was held last March 30, 2008. As of today, there are already tenants who rented 5 of the 9 available rooms/stalls in the OLPCC Building. And the Php800.00 initial loan granted during our first years in the business is now Php600,000.00. Once again, we are still hopeful, that we will still continue our service as stated in our Mission and Vision Statement.

THE SUCCESS OF OUR LADY OF PEACE MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE
Formerly known as Our Lady of Peace Credit Cooperative (OLPCC), the OLPMPC was established because of the clamor from the Parish Pastoral Council officers to help vendors near the Cathedral to stop borrowing money from the 5-6 scheme of Bombay and other short-term loan grants with higher interest rates. Hence, through the effort of Bishop Protacio Gungon (now Bishop Emeritus) and, with the help of Sis. Mary Loretta S. Aquino, SPC, Sis. Monica Mandap and Sis. Rose Colima (now Emma Colima Gatoteo), the cooperative was formally opened bearing a name after the Parish Patroness, the Our lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
The first Pre-Membership Seminar among vendors was conducted at the Parish with Ms. Marlyn Estrella of San Dionisio Credit Cooperative (Parañaque City) as the speaker. At the start, there were a total of 17 members whose share capital and savings deposits were collected by a voluntary member, in addition to the seed money given by Bishop Gungon amounting to Php10,000.00. The services granted by the cooperative during its early years of operation were purely credit in nature since it only accepts savings deposits and grants small amount of loans. In fact, the first loan granted was only Php800.00. Bishop Gungon acted as the adviser and he was assisted by Sis. Mary Loretta S. Aquino and Sis. Monica mandad as the treasurer, Ms. Rose Colima assisted the members relative to their inquiries.
With the signage of the cooperative displayed at the vicinity of the Cathedral, it led to its discovery by other individuals who are interested and knowledgeable about cooperatives. Thus, one day, Mrs. Hermie Dallarte, a mass attendee, approached Sis. Loretta and offered help for the development of the Parish cooperative. Sis. Hermi Dallarte was the treasurer of Paltok Credit Cooperative during that time. She invited the officers and some members to observe how the Paltok Credit Cooperative (Quezon City) operates,
Few years later, lots of improvements were made. An expansion in the services offered to members was achieved. From savings to regular loan, there were also additional loans that can be also be enjoyed by members such as appliance, commodity, memorial lot, and the gift cheque loans. Memorial services can also be availed together with Damayan Fund of Php20,000.00 plus Loan Redemption Fund. All these loans and other benefits can be achieved once the member is qualified and show the qualities of 5 C’s. In addition to this, the members can also avail of the yearly dividend, patronage refund, rebates for early payers, and interest on savings deposits.
The success of the OLPMPC is attested by its so many accomplishments: In April 25, 1999, it was awarded as the Most Outstanding Financial Performance by the PFCCO for keeping up with the credit cooperative’s standard for safety and soundness of financial operation like financial stability and self-reliance, and in October 24, 2007, the Antipolo City Cooperative and Livelihood Office (CCLO) awarded OLPMPC as the 4th Outstanding Primary Cooperative, due to its remarkable achievement in line with business and objectives. The asset of the cooperative increases as shown by the acquired real properties, one of which is a 274m2 lot which cost Php2.4M where the cooperative’s owned 3-storey building was constructed amounting to Php7M which ends its temporary occupancy at the ground.
