🚨 FUEL PRICES WILL REMAIN HIGH – EVEN IF SHIPPING RESUMES 🚨

Many people are expecting fuel prices to drop immediately once the Strait of Hormuz reopens β€” but the reality is different.

πŸ“Š Here’s what’s really happening:

β€’ Middle East oil infrastructure has been damaged due to ongoing conflict
β€’ Supply chains are still disrupted, even if shipping routes reopen
β€’ Refineries and production facilities take time to recover β€” not days, but months

πŸ‘‰ This means fuel prices will likely remain high for the next few months, even after the situation stabilizes.

β›½ For businesses, transport operators, and everyday Papua New Guineans β€” this is a serious cost pressure.

⚑ This is why the shift to Electric Vehicles (EVs) is no longer optional β€” it’s necessary.

β€’ Lower running cost
β€’ No dependence on global fuel prices
β€’ More stable and predictable operations

πŸ’‘ The future is clear β€” those who adapt early will benefit the most.

ODESH Motors Port Moresby Challenge:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

ODESH Motors Blaval Model A test-drive in Port Moresby covered 67 km using only 50% battery.

Based on the latest Port Moresby diesel price of K7.6944/L, the same trip in a typical diesel vehicle at 10L/100km would cost about K51.55.

The EV used about K5.34 worth of PNG Power electricity, meaning a saving of about K46.21 for that trip alone. Recharging the battery from 50% back to full would cost only about K5.34.

C’mon, this is not fair. Fare adjustments should have been announced together with the new fuel prices. Right now, PMVs and taxis are charging different rates at their own will. Hoping the proper announcement comes soon.

All licensed Public Motor Vehicles (PMV) and taxi owners and operators currently providing services must strictly comply with the maximum approved fares, as published by the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) in National Gazette No. G21 of January 9, 2026.

🚨 Fuel Prices Up Again – SMEs Under Pressure in PNG
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The latest increase by the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) is hitting businesses hard.

β›½ Transport & delivery costs rising
⚑ Generator & power costs increasing
πŸ“‰ Profit margins shrinking
πŸ“¦ Supply chains slowing down

Most SMEs cannot absorb these costs β€” meaning prices will go up, and customers will feel it.

⏳ This is not short-term. Global tensions mean high fuel prices could continue for months ahead.

πŸ’‘ Businesses must adapt now:
βœ”οΈ Cut fuel usage
βœ”οΈ Improve efficiency
βœ”οΈ Explore alternatives (EVs, solar)

The shift is coming β€” those who adapt early will win. ⚑
