MiBank at the Digital Transformation Summit 2026

MiBank is pleased to be at the Digital Transformation Summit which started on Sunday 19 July and will conclude on Wednesday 22 July at Sheraton Hotel, Port Moresby.

The summit is hosted by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). The theme for this year’s summit is “Building Papua New Guinea’s Digital Public Ecosystem: Trust, Infrastructure, Innovation, Inclusion.

The programme is held annually bringing together the government, international and local industry partners, academias and civil society who play an integral role of shaping Papua New Guinea’s digital future.

This year’s summit includes the Hackathon, eGames, Content Creators Awards and Expo.
We are at the Summit to promote the Sevis Wallet, which is Papua New Guinea’s digital identity and public infrastructure application that allows citizens to register and secure their digital identity (Sevis Pass), manage personal information and access government and financial services.

MiBank has partnered with the Department of Information and Communication Technology as the financial services partner. The Sevis Wallet allows citizens to open a bank account with MiBank through the wallet using your mobile phone. This digital identification verification process (e – KYC) is used to confirm citizen’s information prior to account registration online.

Since December last year, there has been an increasing number of customers that have opened their account through the Sevis wallet nationwide.

The SevisPass and SevisWallet operate on an assurance-tier system that dictate banking features and transaction limits that can be accessed. There are three tiers, the current feature of the SevisWallet is low assurance, basic structure which allows for basic personal information and biometrics (face and fingerprint) which is captured using your phone.

The Sevis Wallet is currently operable at Tier one, allowing citizens to do low value transaction activities, there is no issuance of a bank card. All transactions are done online using mobile banking for transfer and phone – top ups.

The Department of Information and Communication Technology is liaising with a number of stakeholders, data anchors, to collaborate, strengthen the capability and features of the Sevis Wallet.

The SevisWallet when upgraded to Tier two will have enhanced features, using the moderate assurance structure. This enhancement will allow citizens to do high value transactions for financial and banking services as well as other government services.

With a shared goal of improving systems and digital advancement, accessibility of services to the people of Papua New Guinea, MiBank is looking forward to continuing this integration partnership as we work in tandem with the Department of Information and Communication Technology and other service providers to serve our people.
