Educating our Young Minds in Madang
The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI) successfully hosted the Young Minds Savings Campaign in Madang Province last week.
The program was hosted by CEFI and supported by partner stakeholders including Bank of Papua New Guinea, Securities Commission of Papua New Guinea and Financial Partners.
MiBank is pleased to be part of the program which started on Wednesday 20th May, 2026 & concluded on Friday 22nd May, covering a number of schools including Sagalau Primary School, Holy Spirit Primary School and Kusbau Primary School.
The three days awareness program in Madang is part of a comprehensive annual program targeted at educating our children and youths throughout the country on financial education and savings.
Navigating a challenging and uncertain economic climate calls for action to empower our young generation to develop healthy financial habits at a young age.
The program was held in Western Highlands Province in March and will be held in Simbu Province later this year.
Our participation in this program reaffirms our commitment to providing & delivering sustainable kids savings products such as the MiPikinini Savings account.
The MiPikinini Savings account is a product that is available for children aged five years old to seventeen years old, with minimum deposit of K10 and it is a savings product. Our Esiloans Officer for Madang Branch, Scott Bengi spoke to the students during the school engagement about the savings product, reiterating the benefits of saving for the future.
He said “this product allows you to save for your future, when you are eighteen, you can then access your funds through a transacting account.”
"We also have our School Fee Savings Account, with minimum deposit of K10, no deposit or monthly keeping fees, he added. You can do your little market and save for your school fee for next year, "he added.
MiBank is pleased to be part of this program since its inception in 2024, where the programwas held in West New Britain Province and in Milne Bay Province. We also participated last year where the program was held in East New Britian Province and Gulf Province.
We look forward to working with CEFI in empowering our young generation to be financially empowered and included.
