Tampara! We are delighted to announce that we have re-established our permanent footprint in Bougainville with the groundbreaking ceremony of our corporate office and accommodation facility in Toniva.

Our General Manager Business Development, Dan Khaisir, and other representatives attending the ceremony were welcomed through Dutasisi, a traditional ceremony that marked the beginning of this new chapter in Bougainville.

The project follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) and Steamships in May 2026, which established a framework for collaboration on land management, community governance and economic growth in Bougainville.

Managing Director, Chris Daniells, said the project reflects Steamships' confidence in Bougainville's future and the strong relationships built since 2022 through ongoing engagement, consultation and collaboration with traditional land custodians and the ABG.

We are proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2026 Hiri Moale Festival! 🎉

We're honoured to celebrate this iconic event alongside the Motu Koita Assembly. As our Managing Director noted, the story of the Motu Koita people and the story of Steamships are connected by the sea.

From the early partnership between Steamships founder Captain Algernon Fitch and Captain P**i Gari of Elevala, to the many generations who have contributed to our shared journey, this relationship continues to be built on trust, respect and shared purpose. Steamships was invited to speak at Private Gavamani Konekt 3, the third Chief Justice's Business Breakfast, hosted by the Business Council of PNG (BCPNG) together with UNDP through the EU funded Preventing and Countering Corruption in Papua New Guinea Project.

This year's theme was Justice, Integrity and Innovation: Strengthening Markets and Governance in PNG. Our General Manager Corporate Affairs, Ruth Kissam, accompanied by our Sustainable Development Manager, Rhonda Kopman, spoke in Session 3 on Land, Green Economy and Environmental Justice.

The message was a simple one. After 108 years in this country, environmental responsibility has to show up in what a business actually does, not only in what it commits to.

In 2023 our Board committed Steamships to Net Zero by 2050. Since then, we have progressed various initiatives across our business including renewable energy, green building design and marine operations. This work has built up steadily over the years and continues today.

To guide these efforts over the longer term, work is underway on a decarbonisation roadmap.

Thank you to BCPNG and UNDP for the invitation, and to the Chief Justice and fellow panelists for a valuable discussion.
