Peruvian pitahaya is entering a new stage.
In a recent FreshPlaza feature, I shared our view on the evolution of the Peruvian pitahaya industry and the strategic opportunity ahead for Peru.
While international prices are under pressure due to higher regional supply, Peru has a clear competitive window between April and July, when Ecuadorian volumes decrease and the market opens stronger opportunities for high-quality fruit.
At Epic Farms, our strategy is not based only on producing more. It is based on producing better, with technical management, certifications, commercial discipline and a clear focus on export markets.
We are also moving beyond fresh fruit by developing industrial formats such as frozen pitahaya, pulp and future value-added products. This allows us to expand market access, reduce dependence on fresh fruit volatility and build a more scalable agribusiness model.
Peru still has a small share of the global pitahaya market, but the opportunity is significant. The next stage will belong to producers who combine efficiency, quality, logistics, certifications and long-term commercial strategy.
