Cyclone Vaianu is already impacting parts of the country and is expected to reach our area later today.

⚠️ What to expect:
• Strong winds across Whanganui & surrounding areas from Sunday evening
• Potential for severe gusts in exposed places
• Heavy rain may lead to surface flooding in some areas

At this stage, there is no State of Emergency but emergency services are prepared and monitoring closely.

✅ A few simple things you can do now:
• Secure or bring inside loose outdoor items (trampolines, furniture, tools)
• Clear gutters and drains
• Park vehicles away from trees if possible
• Check on neighbours, friends and family
• Have torches and a battery radio ready

• Follow MetService and Civil Defence for the latest warnings and advice.
• If it’s an emergency, call 111.
