Yes, we made it.

50,000 Lazy Sneakers in the hands of people who need them.

Our last update marked 40,000 pairs in October 2024. You lifted the next 10,000 through donations, drop-offs, and local drives. Today at a community event in Waikato, an NGO distributed our 50,000th pair.

Thank you to our sponsors and partners. You keep this work moving. There are too many to list, and we value every one of you. It’s not about us, it’s about the community.

Lazy Sneakers continues to grow at grassroots because we believe the concept should be community led and people can choose to pay it forward in their local areas.

Shout out to New Balance and Solect NZ for their continued support and generous sneaker donations! Thanks to their contributions and the incredible support from communities across the country, we’ve now distributed over 40,000 pairs of sneakers to tamariki, rangatahi, and families across Aotearoa and Australia. These sneakers will help reactivate and empower so many. Our new model is surpassing expectations, with people, businesses, and sporting communities passing their Lazy Sneakers forward through to local networks and NGO providers like Waata from Waiariki Whanau Mentoring for distribution. It’s amazing to see this collective effort in action! We appreciate you NZ and Australia 🙏🏾🧡💤👟

Thank you to our community and Lazy Sneakers for gifting shoes last month to families Meli supports – some pictured here with our Child and Family practitioners Bella and Stephen.

Lazy Sneakers gathers new and good quality used shoes from community members and organisations to gift to people in our community who need them.
We’re thrilled to be able to share the impact this has already had on one of our families:

“She was so excited, she put them straight on and asked to go for a walk. She has previously been wearing sneakers a size too small. The child has previously told me she worries about mum having money for food and petrol so it was great that she was able to access new shoes without having to worry about the financial impact on mum.”

We also wanted to pay tribute to one of our dedicated volunteers - our grandad (1940 - 2024) - a generous and kind soul who recently left us - we will miss you. Rest in love Grandad
