Our team is constantly searching for ways to help people reduce their carbon emissions.🕵️‍♀️

Recently, we partnered with CogCo to conduct research into carbon budgets.

We wanted to understand whether carbon budgets motivated climate action, and how to encourage people to set lower, more ambitious carbon targets.

Read CogCo’s blog for a summary of the findings👇

Imagine that you just found out your monthly carbon footprint based on your everyday spending. Yep, there’s a tool for that. It’s called Cogo, and it works by providing you with information about your carbon emissions within your online banking app. Cogo’s aim is to help people to reduce their...

Next in our ›Meet the Team‹ series is our Head of Business Development (APAC) Kevin Nass👇

Q: Kevin, can you tell us about your career background?
A: I started my career in recruitment consulting, because I wanted to make a difference in peoples’ lives. I did that for a bit, then decided that wasn’t “big” enough and went into Sales.I really wanted to widen my horizon to make more impact, and work internationally. When I reflect on my past experiences, wanting to make a difference is definitely the common thread. I’ve worked for companies selling medical devices, talent and onboarding software, and wellbeing software. I’m really excited to be at Cogo because it’s such an important mission, one that deeply resonates with my personal values.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: When I was growing up, I wanted to be a pilot. The idea of traveling the world flying planes (I’m a big aviation geek) just seemed amazing. But, once I found out how much advanced math is involved in becoming a pilot, that dream was quickly replaced by wanting to become a veterinarian, and then a lawyer.

Q: What’s your favourite Cogo value and why?
A: My favourite Cogo value is hard to pick, but “Together we Grow” stands out just a bit more than the others. I’ll be the first person to admit that I don’t know something, and put a different person in the spotlight to shine. This value also represents diversity and inclusion for me, as I know how important it is for people from different backgrounds and communities to not just be invited to the party, but to be invited to join on the dance floor (this is how D&I was once explained to me, and I love that analogy). Being part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how much of a different an inclusive environment makes to one’s energy and mental health. It’s so great to be working at a place that encourages its people to bring their real, authentic selves to work. I really appreciate that.

Q: What’s your vision for a fairer and more sustainable world?
A: My vision for a fairer and more sustainable world, good question. I would hope that people learn to disconnect from their screens, and connect with nature more. Reconnecting with the environment and what’s going on around us, will hopefully bring more awareness in terms of nature’s limits, and an intrinsic motivation to make the world a better place. Funnily that journey probably starts online, and it’s what we’re contributing to at Cogo.

It's amazing to see more and more people becoming aware of the problem of greenwashing and the importance of asking tough questions when it comes to supporting recycling programmes and environmentally conscious businesses. 💚 In the spirit of continuous improvement and collective action we need to applaud these efforts, BUT…

As a company that values sustainability, we take transparency seriously. That's why this powerful article by Reuters is important to share, to shed light on the fact that greenwashing is absolutely still happening and doing more harm than good in most cases, certainly in this one 👇🏽

Real meaningful change is up to each one of us, and beyond your own actions, it extends to holding businesses accountable, asking tough questions, doing your own research, and demanding real action from the companies you support. 🌎

A Reuters investigation found some shoes meant for recycling in Singapore ended up in shops in Indonesia, where it is illegal to import second-hand clothing.

Sometimes, calculating your carbon footprint can seem like rocket science. Luckily for us, we have experts on board who are very good at doing the math! 🤓

Our vision is a world where knowing your carbon footprint is as typical as knowing your calorie intake or your daily step count, but we also believe that it’s important to use accurate data models to ensure positive action equals positive change. 💪🏽

This article on WIRED takes a deep dive into how the difference between accurate data and estimate and the importance of personalised metrics 👇🏽

The company offers estimates of the emissions impacts of flights and recipes. Businesses with sales at stake are pushing back.

SMEs play an essential role in carbon emissions reduction, so we need to understand the challenges they are currently facing to better support them on their sustainability journey. 💚

Our partnership with The Cumberland has helped their customers and employees to track their carbon footprint and make easy changes, specific to their personal spending habits, to help lower their environmental impact.🌍

So far, The Cumberland customers have collectively saved an estimated 9,280kg CO2e—that's the equivalent savings to driving 33,000 miles in a car! (or rather NOT driving 33,000 miles in a car!)🌱

Every carbon saving action counts. So we’re really proud of our partners and their customers for working together to drive collective change.

There’s a LOT of talk out there around ‘right-sizing’ ESG for startups. 📣 But digesting the myriad complex ESG recommendations and principles out there can often feel like eating ‘alphabet soup’.
