Next in our ›Meet the Team‹ series is our Head of Business Development (APAC) Kevin Nass👇
Q: Kevin, can you tell us about your career background?
A: I started my career in recruitment consulting, because I wanted to make a difference in peoples’ lives. I did that for a bit, then decided that wasn’t “big” enough and went into Sales.I really wanted to widen my horizon to make more impact, and work internationally. When I reflect on my past experiences, wanting to make a difference is definitely the common thread. I’ve worked for companies selling medical devices, talent and onboarding software, and wellbeing software. I’m really excited to be at Cogo because it’s such an important mission, one that deeply resonates with my personal values.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: When I was growing up, I wanted to be a pilot. The idea of traveling the world flying planes (I’m a big aviation geek) just seemed amazing. But, once I found out how much advanced math is involved in becoming a pilot, that dream was quickly replaced by wanting to become a veterinarian, and then a lawyer.
Q: What’s your favourite Cogo value and why?
A: My favourite Cogo value is hard to pick, but “Together we Grow” stands out just a bit more than the others. I’ll be the first person to admit that I don’t know something, and put a different person in the spotlight to shine. This value also represents diversity and inclusion for me, as I know how important it is for people from different backgrounds and communities to not just be invited to the party, but to be invited to join on the dance floor (this is how D&I was once explained to me, and I love that analogy). Being part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how much of a different an inclusive environment makes to one’s energy and mental health. It’s so great to be working at a place that encourages its people to bring their real, authentic selves to work. I really appreciate that.
Q: What’s your vision for a fairer and more sustainable world?
A: My vision for a fairer and more sustainable world, good question. I would hope that people learn to disconnect from their screens, and connect with nature more. Reconnecting with the environment and what’s going on around us, will hopefully bring more awareness in terms of nature’s limits, and an intrinsic motivation to make the world a better place. Funnily that journey probably starts online, and it’s what we’re contributing to at Cogo.
