It must be time for a post....bless me father for i have sinned..it is now 6 months since my last post...Busy , busy busy and everything running smoothly so sort of forgot about it...whoops. Had to laugh at the news onTV tonight...classic media comment from some earnest fellow when asked about the current high on the NZX. "There will have to be a correction of some sort at some point in the future" OMG such clarity of vision, what a stupendous display of knowledge and soooo helpful. Really why do they bother? I think it was Craigs Investment partners or maybe it was Craigs list and they just got the numbers mixed up?

Your honour, in my defense I would like to point out my house has been haunted by evil spirits....it was them that made me do it". I'm not sure if Mr. Tao Li tried this tactic but it could have elicited some humour from the bench if nothing more. So Mr. Li, a $550,000 tax fraudster has been sentenced to home detention for 10 months at his luxury mansion in Lower Hutt. So what ? you say...cue creepy organ music...he is the new owner of house previously owned by David Ross, the convicted Ponzi scheme perp to the tune of 115 million. Obviously they neglected to cleanse the dwelling sufficiently. Here is the approved recipe..thanks to Google (of course)..Fuming is a process of burning dried herbs to banish unwanted entities. Clouds of fragrant smoke ward them the same way bug repellant can ward mosquitos.
To fume, place a heat-proof pot on a heat-proof surface. Light an incense charcoal briquette (never use barbecue charcoal, which is toxic when burned indoors) and put it in the pot. Then open all the windows and sprinkle a spoonful of herbs on it every few minutes to build up billows of smoke. (warn your neighbours first LOL)
Certain herbs repel entities and make them slink back from where they came. Use sage or thyme if it’s a minor problem. If you feel the entity is mischievous or maligning and might not want to leave, use something stronger such as garlic powder, juniper berries, cinnamon or cloves.
See, you can learn all sorts of stuff here ..not just updates on dividends.

Well I have just gone though my annual examination of the entrails relating to my personal dividend program. Using a benchmark of the average TD available at the beginning of each financial year. Over the last 6 years we have achieved an average gross return of 7.41% which is 93% better than if we had invested the capital in a TD each year. Some will have done better and some will have done worse and this is simply a statement of how a "lazy" investor and someone with average financial literacy has done. My point is that its a very achievable goal for the average person to do better than a TD if one is so inclined and it does not require huge amounts of time or a dedicated financial advisor or a managed investment firm to do something similar.

If you are of a certain vintage you will remember "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" a highly regarded BBC series ..so what? just reminded me of current state of affairs with TTK. Closed today at 1.05 and there appear to be a number of investors who agree with the previously mentioned Grant Samuels report. Still plenty of buyers but the share market makes monkey's out of us all at some point so remains to be seen what the next couple of weeks hold. As CK would say to Reggie "I didnt get where I am today by waffling", but who is waffling ? is it SPK, is it TTK or is it Grant Samuels? Bring the DeLorean round to the front door please Marty?

Hey this is more fun than watching Game of Thrones...TTK the struggling Wellington based company has spurned the SPK takeover offer of 0.80 cents as being "opportunistic" (as you would), even though it was increased from an offer made privately some months ago of 0.60 cents. TTK had hired Grant Samuels to do a valuation which came back as being somewhere within the 1.52 to 2.11 range. Well... SPK apparently thought that was laughable (as they would) and made assorted snarky comments questioning TTK, its board, its previous business dealings and the sanity of its shareholders. Basically saying that they were the only possible outcome and no-one else would be even considering any interest in TTK. Such altruism, such generosity of spirit would be only found in the understanding arms of mother SPK. But wait..just when you thought that hummm...maybe they are right? Vodaphone pops up dragons unleashed and chains broken, and offers 10 million for a 70% chunk of Farmside. (one of TTKs holdings). I cant wait for the next episode.. this is getting good...send me some popcorn!!!
