Great to see this event go ahead with leadership from Futurefx-NZ and support of AIM - Angel Investors Marlborough and our members.

A 3-day entrepreneurship programme has given nearly 90 Marlborough secondary students the chance to test their business ideas in a real-world setting - at a time when opportunities like this are becoming increasingly rare nationally.

The 2026 "Marlborough Business Challenge" brought together students from Marlborough Boys' College & Marlborough Girls' College, who worked in teams to develop business concepts, identify market problems, create products or services, & pitch their ideas to local judges.

The programme is designed to be hands-on & practical, giving students an immersive introduction to business, innovation & enterprise. Rather than learning only through classroom theory, students experience what it means to think like entrepreneurs: solving problems, building ideas, responding to feedback, & refining their pitch.

This year’s Challenge is especially significant because the programme has historically been delivered in around 30-40 schools across New Zealand each year, but a drop in national sponsorship means only a small number of schools have been able to take part in 2026.

In Marlborough, the event was able to go ahead thanks to strong local backing from AIM - Angel Investors Marlborough, Whiringa and us here at FutureFX - with this support also ensuring there was no cost for students to participate.

With youth enterprise opportunities becoming harder to access nationally, the Marlborough Business Challenge stands out as a community-backed investment in the region’s next generation of thinkers, innovators and business leaders.
