On a regular basis I’m working with clients on the West Coast and this is a track well worth getting onto if you get the chance !
We’ve been deeply moved by a beautiful gesture from one of our Old Ghost Ultra whānau. A past women’s champion who isn't seeking limelight, and who has drawn huge strength from the event through some tough years, has offered to quietly cover the entry for one first‑time local woman on the start line in 2027.
In her words, the Old Ghost Ultra isn’t about speed or elitism – it’s about participation, community and the sheer joy of running the event with a big field of good people.
In that spirit, we’re inviting expressions of interest from women who call the West Coast home and who would love to take on their first Old Ghost Ultra in 2027, but for whom the entry fee is a real barrier.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please complete the short form at the link below no later than 5pm this Friday evening to be considered.
We won’t be running a public competition or announcing a shortlist. One recipient will be selected quietly by a small panel from the OGU team and notified directly. Our decision will be final.
This kind of quiet mana from our champions is exactly what keeps the Old Ghost Ultra grounded in community - opening doors for locals and first‑timers to share in something special. We salute you.
