This week, I was fortunate enough to attend our annual Wealthpoint conference in Dunedin with our fantastic colleagues and suppliers from all over the country. Felt a bit like going home after previously spending three years of my youth in Dunners surviving damp flats and outdoor rugby games at Carisbrook as a scarfie almost 20 years ago 🔵🟡

Our Gala Dinner and awards is always the highlight of the week where we get together to celebrate our network and the fantastic people in it. At the awards, I was incredibly surprised and humbled to receive Adviser of the Year for our network. Felt a little surreal to be stepping up on to the stage at the Dunedin Town Hall to receive the award after I last stepped up there in 2010 to receive my degree from Otago University.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, not only over the last 12 months, but over the last decade of being in this wonderful business. I am incredibly proud of my Mainland family and only wish this award could be split in to 14 equal pieces to share amongst them all as I could not do any of it without them ❤️

First-home buyers continue to dominate the Timaru property market, having topped buying stats for the fourth month this year

The bank's turnaround times are getting pretty lengthy, and we are hearing of long waits to get appointments in local branches due to their volume too.

We recommend coming to see us to get preapproval organised as soon as you can. It means less stress for all parties and helps you know what options you have.

That said, we have excellent relationships with key bank staff so can work on turning some deals around a lot faster if the need arises. There will be some restrictions though on the bank as some are more under the pump than others.

The key message - get independent financial advice, and get it early!

However, banks deny there are delays in processing applications.
