Here at High Street Insurance Brokers we love giving back, and sharing these great stories.

$35,000 going back into our local community ❤️

We’re really pleased to have helped five Bay of Plenty charities receive a total of $35,000 in the latest round of funding from the Steadfast Foundation.

They all do very different things, but each is making a real difference in our community.

They help put food on the tables of families who are doing it tough.

They get young people outdoors and experiencing things they might not otherwise get the chance to do.

They support men who might otherwise find themselves heading down the wrong path.

They use sport to create opportunities and put pathways in front of young people.

And they’re building a community with te reo Māori at the heart of everything they do.

We don’t do any of that work. They do.

Our part is simply being able to put these great local organisations forward and help connect them with funding through the Steadfast Foundation.

This latest $35,000 takes the total funding we’ve helped bring into our local community to more than $71,500.

That’s something we’re really proud to have played a small part in.

A huge thank you to the Steadfast Foundation for continuing to back organisations making a genuine difference here in the Bay of Plenty – and most importantly, to the people behind these charities who are out there doing the work every day.

Hopefully we can help a few more next time around.

🔥 Big change coming to insurance costs in 2026 — and most people don’t realise it yet

From 1 July 2026, the way Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) levies are calculated is changing.

At a glance, it looks minor.

It’s not.

👉 The key shift:
Levies will move from indemnity value → sum insured (full replacement value)

That means:
• Many commercial clients will see noticeable increases
• Motor policies will now have a flat levy (even third party)
• Residential clients may see small reductions

But here’s the part most people are missing…

💡 This isn’t just a cost increase — it’s a structuring issue

If your sums insured aren’t right, you could be:
• Paying more levy than you need to
• Over-insured in areas that don’t need it
• Carrying inefficiencies in your programme

We’re already reviewing this across our client base ahead of renewals.
