My client, Johan, works with a high impact gun on truck tyres almost every day. During July 2026 he started experiencing pain and discomfort with numbness in his left index and middle finger and noticed the impacted fingers going white.

Johan is left handed and this caused great discomfort especially during the week when working. He started waking up at night due to the pain. He was diagnosed by a specialist in mid August with acute onset carpal tunnel syndrome. The specialist recommended surgery as soon as possible.

Johan and his family took out Private Health insurance with me in January this year and this has been their second claim in the past few months. Their son had surgery of around $16,000 paid for removal of his tonsils, adenoids and reduction of turbinates' in July 2026.

Johan did have a $750 excess to pay, due to this being selected when he took out the Health insurance plan. Having an excess on your Private Health insurance does reduce the premium.

What a fantastic weekend at the Women’s Expo! 💜

It was such a pleasure being there as an exhibitor for Trublue Insurance Advisers and having the opportunity to meet and chat with so many wonderful people who came through the show.

One thing that really stood out to me was just how many people have limited knowledge or understanding of personal insurance — what cover is available, what it actually does, and why having the right protection in place can be so important.

It was honestly surprising to hear how many people said, “I’ve never really thought about that” or “I didn’t know that was something you could insure.”

It really highlighted to me that there is a huge need for more education around personal insurance. Insurance can sometimes feel complicated or overwhelming, but having someone explain the options in simple, everyday language can make such a difference.

As an insurance adviser, I love being able to have those conversations — no pressure, no jargon, just helping people understand what protection is available and what might be right for their individual circumstances.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, asked questions, shared their experiences or simply had a chat. It was wonderful meeting you all! 💜

If the weekend has taught me anything, it’s that you don’t know what you don’t know — and sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference.

AIA Summit 2026 - what a treat. Some great speakers and take away notes. A time to fill your cup again and be reminded why you do what you do.

We did the All Blacks experience and could get a feel of what it feels like before the players walk out on the field and hearing the Haka on big screen with the room vibrating with the realness and loudness of it.

My favourite speaker is always Jason Gunn and telling us about “Thingee” and when his eye popped out on national TV. Always a cracker. 😅

My biggest take aways:

“AI is moving fast but there is still nothing like human connection”.

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”.
