If you’ve been waiting for a sign, the latest Cotality analysis might be it.
Nationally, mortgage repayments now take up around 40% of the gross household income. That’s down from a peak of 54% in late 2021.
House values have also eased to 6.7 times the median household income, compared to 9.8 times at the market’s height (also late 2021).
Still not easy. But a very different picture to a few years ago.
