Our cows are now enjoying a well-earned rest, which means the milk truck has officially gone on holiday too! 🐄🥛

Our beautiful girls are officially off on their well-earned winter break. 🐄🌿💚

After another incredible milking season, it’s time for the cows, and the land they graze, to rest, reset, and recharge naturally. Nature never intended cows to milk year-round, and at Opepe Farm Trust we honour that rhythm wholeheartedly.

Our cows are now enjoying their seasonal holiday, roaming peacefully and preparing for the next season ahead. We'll miss their delicious milk, but we know this time is essential for their wellbeing and for producing the healthiest, most nutrient-dense milk possible when spring returns. 🥛✨

Thank you for supporting a way of farming that puts animal welfare, sustainability, and the health of our whenua first. Your support helps keep our community thriving and allows us to continue doing things the Opepe way, slowly, naturally, and with care.

Education grants are available to support tertiary study for members with natural whakapapa to at least one of the Wairakei Charitable Trust Marae:

Please be reminded that the School, Tertiary and Kaumatua Medical Grants are currently on hold, effective from the 11th of December 2025.

As outlined in the East Taupō Lands Trust’s recent pānui, the Trust has been significantly impacted by the downturn in the honey industry, which has historically been our primary source of income.

At the Owners Meeting held on 11 October 2025, trustees discussed the Trust’s financial performance in detail and signalled that a review of the grants programme was likely.

Following that review, the trustees have made the difficult decision to 𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, effective immediately. These three grants will be placed on hold for 12 months.

Please note that 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟖𝟎𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 will continue to be paid during this period.

The trustees will provide a further update on the grants programme at the next Owners Meeting.

Once submitted and the declaration is signed, registrations will be reviewed by the Marae representative/s for approval. Please note this process can take 3 weeks to 3 months.
