We’ve recently shared Ray’s work as a volunteer firefighter. Today, we’re revisiting his thoughts on another risk that can stop a business: cyber.

It sounds straightforward enough. But “business insurance” can cover a lot of ground.

A café, a builder, a professional consultancy and a retailer might all ask us the same question, but what each one needs can be completely different.

Where do you work? What do you rely on to keep operating? Do you hold stock, have staff, work at clients’ premises or give professional advice? What happens if you suddenly can’t trade?

There’s helping people through the unexpected - and then there’s Ray Dunbar.

Most days, you’ll find Ray in Taupō, helping our clients with their insurance. Soon, though, he’ll be swapping the office for his fire gear, after being selected to head to North America to help fight the wildfires there.

Ray has a long background in the fire service and has previously fought wildfires offshore, so when the call came, he was ready to put his hand up again.

While Ray’s away, his clients can continue to contact Dawson’s as usual, with the rest of the team here to help and keep things ticking along.

We’re incredibly proud of him, and very happy to support him while he goes and does something pretty extraordinary.

Safe travels, Ray. We’ll be cheering you on from home. ❤️
