Good morning people of Facebook,
In a couple of weeks, I'm doing a 33km coastal run/swim from Whangaparaoa to Devonport to help raise money for a charity called Youth In Transition. They look after kids under the age of 18 who have attempted su***de. The youngest they have had in their program is just 8 years old. For us, it will be a pretty long day, but for the kids in the YIT program, they're all long days. The funds are to be used to help put kids through their program where they can go and stay at a respite home and get the counseling and support that they need when they feel like they're at the end of the road. Youth In Transition receives no govt funding, they rely solely on donations from the public.
The group that I am running with has set up a Givealittle page to make donating really easy and to ensure that everything goes directly to the charity. It costs around $2,000 to put a child through the program so that's how much the members of the group are each trying to raise. If you're keen to help us support these kids, that would be great. No pressure if not! Here's the link: https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/bni-mega-fundraising-for-children-who-have
Just make sure you write "Ben" in the donor message, as we are trying to keep everyone in our group accountable for raising money. If you're interested in the event we are participating in, more info is here https://www.coastalchallenge.co.nz/
Help us support the charity that supports kids when they need it most.
