Spring is starting to show in Queenstown 🌱

The days are getting longer, new leaves are appearing, and people are slowly coming out of winter hibernation.

We are also starting to see more homes come onto the market. Clients who have been holding pre-approvals and waiting through winter are beginning to attend open homes and take action.

Helping people into their first home is rewarding enough, but knowing you’ve made a real difference throughout the journey is what makes this job so special.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey as a financial adviser is growing alongside my clients.

I first met this beautiful family from Greymouth early last year, and they became one of my very first construction lending clients. While I’ve personally been through the process of building homes in Queenstown a few times, learning the finance side of construction lending was a completely different experience altogether.

Construction lending has many moving parts, staged drawdowns, timelines, valuations, variations, and plenty happening behind the scenes. There were moments where I was learning in real time, asking questions, finding solutions, and doing everything I could to make the process smooth for my clients.

What made all the difference was having clients who were patient, understanding, and trusting throughout the journey. For that, I’ll always be grateful.

Seeing them finally receive the keys to their beautiful new home this week made every challenge worthwhile.

Helping people into homes is never just about finance. It’s about being part of one of the biggest milestones in their lives.

Thank you again for trusting me to be part of your journey.

147 years ago, our ancestors arrived on unfamiliar shores with little more than hope, courage, and determination.

The man sitting with the walking stick in the first photo is my great grandfather. He travelled from India to Fiji during the Girmit era and worked in the sugar cane fields to build a better life for his family and future generations.

When I look at this photo, I think about the sacrifices that were made, the hardships they went through, and the strength they carried with them every single day. Leaving your homeland, starting again in a completely different country, and still finding a way to keep going could not have been easy.

As a Fiji-born Indian, this story is part of who I am. It’s a reminder of where we came from and why we should never take the opportunities we have today for granted.

Their struggles built the foundation for us. ❤️
